I will never get out of Silver

I will never leave. I hate how terrible I am at this game. I hate it. I hate how I can never climb because I'm not good enough to carry, and I hate that I can't outplay anyone at this trash elo because I'm trash too. I hate that people climb so easily without any effort and say how plat/diamond is trash, and yet they literally destroy me, and I can't do anything about it. No matter how much coaching I get, no matter how much League I watch, no matter how much practice I do, and no matter how much I try, I do not climb. I cannot climb. I am just not good enough and I hate it.

I will never ever leave Silver. I'm so discouraged. :(

I may be a bronze player but I have some very good advice, play every op champ you possibly can until you find one you like. Choose any from my list here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/cwuJBkOw-list-of-all-known-champions-considered-as-op

Hey OP,

I was once in your shoes, but eventually climbed my way to Gold, and even peaked as high as Plat a season or two ago. My advice is to play what you like, and have a decent sized pool of champions you can comfortably play with. I'm primarily a support main, but can also jungle and mid pretty well. Educational streamer's are also great too (Scarra, AnnieBot (sometimes)), etc.

I'm not the best, but if you have any questions related to specific things I'd be happy to try and help. Feel free to add me in-game and ask away. :) Best of luck on the rift!

I was like you. Said the same stuff before. I just wanted to get to silver. That was my only goal. And after 5345 games I finally got to silver. I did it by doing 2 things. First I stopped playing how other wanted me to play. And the last thing. I kept playing champs that could burst people down fast. Why? Because sadly in low elos people are not going to play the way you would like them to play. You're not going to have games where your jungle always ganks, your not going to have games where your lane will be 2v2 til the tower is gone. Low elos are not going to play how high end elos play. Its sad to say it but you have to play for you. Not because you're trying to be mean or unfair to others. Its because of how low elo is sadly. That's why I play annie full Ap bot. Or Vel. Do I want to take kills from players? No. But can't trust every adc that I get into a match to last hit after they can't dodge simple spells. Once you get to higher elos you can start playing champs you would like to main. Its sad, but low elos you have to think about yourself not what others would like to do.

Keep in mind this is just after a brief look at your OP.gg profile.

It looks like you usually have reasonable-good scores, with very rare exceptionally poor games. (And everyone has bad games) CS is fine too. Basically it looks like you should be climbing based on CS and score. If your not, I can take a guess at whats holding you back.

If you don't rag on teammates, just disregard option 1. Option 1) Attitude. You don't seem to tilt yourself anyway, but maybe your overly harsh to teammates and get them in a bad mood.

Option 2) Map coordination. This is a very detaled thing that you never really master. But just as a solid base:

When ahead play safe and try to direct your teammates towards the easiest objective to take. Basically go for the scorched earth plan, wipe all the outer turrets, then inners, then inhbis. Baron can go between inners nad inhibs if you have trouble cracking the base.

When behind you need to either stall (splitpushing usually),make a play, or pray the enemy team messes up. Sitting and watching as they wipe your towers is unlikely to work. This is one of those odd things, when your ahead you are under less pressure to make plays, its when your behind you really need to look for an opening to catch up.

Relax, I'm bad at the game too. Stop beating yourself up over league rank, if you want someone to watch that may help you. I recommend this guy called huzzy, a D1 player who will show you how to be chill and who knows you might learn a thing or too. For real though just breath and relax, enjoy yourself :)

Stop focusing on getting out of silver and start focusing on your gameplay.

One thing at a time.

CS.

Taking advantageous trades and avoiding disadvantageous trades.

CSing effectively while doing the above.

Keeping track of the jungler (including warding) while doing all of the above.

Rotating/roaming when able while doing all of the above.

NOT LOSING LANE when you almost certainly can't win lane. This one is a big one.

Stuff like that.

Focus on each thing going down each game until its basically habit, then move to the next.

If your CS significantly drops with any of those points, you need to go back and focus on that element again.

Not necessarily saying CS is your issue; yours seems to be much higher than the average silver, however its a mentality like that which you can build upon.

It could very likely just be that you aren't looking to close out games. Instead of pushing your lead via more kills/cs, take objectives after. Deny more from the enemy.

  1. Narrow down the champions you play to a handful of around ~4-6.
  2. Make sure these champions you pick are strong early game (if possible), or scale strongly into the late game.
  3. Make sure these champions are not too difficult to play mechnically. Examples of champs not to play: Yasuo, Kat, Riven, LB, Fiora, Camille, Azir, Most ADCs.
  4. Make sure these champions are playable in most lanes/roles. Also one of these should be an easy support champion, or even better a strong AP mage for support role like Malzahar, Zyra, etc.
  5. Practice and learn these handful of champions inside and out. Learn their skill ranges, the timers for each skill, how fast they move, how they interact with other champions (in terms of when you are strong vs the enemy is strong, and so on).
  6. Read up online about each champion's strengths, weaknesses, and what they play well into in a lane and what they fail miserably versus in a lane. Playing on these champs should feel like second skin -- you should be able to precisely know when an ability is off cooldown, how much damage it will do to enemies, and so on.
  7. Get a generalized knowledge and 'feel' for every champ in the game, so you have a basic understanding of what they can/can't do, and what all their abilities can/can't do.
  8. Learn to farm more efficiently. If anything, this is the most important lesson in low elo. Too many players get caught up in "fight fight fight", when you can safely farm your way into a huge experience and gold lead over your opponent. Focus on last hitting every minion possible, but not at the expense of taking too much damage from a trade. Always try to weave in last hitting minions with poking your lane opponent when possible. Move around a lot, do not stand still when farming. Always move after you last hit a minion in a random direction. Sometimes you're going to die early, or start losing the lane. Learn how to farm efficiently under your turret. Remember, melee minions (the 3 in the front), have more armor, and can take 2 turret shots from full health. The caster minions (3 in the back) are squishy, and only take one turret hit before you can last hit them (from full health). If you are losing lane and run the risk of dying repeatedly just trying to farm, farm under the turret and stop the "bleeding" (dying). If you can't farm under the turret safely, either leave and try to gank another lane, call for jungler assistance, or let the turret go and try to get some jungle farm. You are better off losing a turret, than going 0-6 in the first 10 minutes of a game.
  9. The most important rule: learn when and when not to fight. No matter your skill level or rank, sometimes it's hard to tell the right moment to go in, or when to back off. Remember this: it's always safer to not engage if you aren't sure you can win the fight. You can never _over_commit, if you didn't commit in the first place. Too many times in bronze-gold games, everyone has this frantic mentality of "kill the enemy!" Even so far as to chase blindly into a bush or place out of vision.
  10. Second most important, always constantly ward. Buy control wards when you have even just 75g. Switch your yellow trinkets out for Farsight (the blue trinket), at level 9. Always check the cooldown and place them whenever possible, wherever you need immediate vision. Games can be won or lost depending if you see that jungler hiding to gank or not.
  11. Go to na.op.gg and look up the champion statistics page, and start familiarizing yourself with the runes, masteries, and item build orders that have the highest winrate ratio. Start applying these to your selected champions ASAP. If your champions are mostly AD bruisers, build a rune page for AD bruisers. If they are mostly AP, do the same. If you have a wide variety of champions in your pool, considering purchasing a few more rune pages and make pages specific to each champion. I personally have the max allowable 20 pages for runes, and most runes available (still working on some). I have specific pages for my top played champions, it makes a world of difference; the difference between a good early game trade or first blood, or not. Same goes for items and masteries. Learn to build the proper items for each of your champions as necessary for each individual game. Items should never, ever be a fixed build always the same; instead you should understand which item to rush first, and which ones to priortize based on the enemy team's composition and your laning phase.
  12. Focus on the mini-map; this goes hand in hand with understanding your champions front to back. Too often players will be too focused on farming, or on their lane, and not seeing that split second reveal of a lee sin flanking from out of vision. Or it can mean the difference between a stealthed enemy destroying your backline, or it could mean missed opportunities to teleport and turn a teamfight. You shouldn't ever have to think about using your champion's abilities or when they are available, you'll just know (knowing the enemy's timers are a different story, and take much more time playing league to figure them all out).
  13. Follow the 2-loss tilt rule: essentially if you lose two games in a row, stop playing for a while/the day. Come back another time. Even if you don't feel tilted, any more than 2 losses will tend to put you in a negative mindset. Even if it doesn't, there exists probability chances that your third game (after a break) can be a win, but more likely to be a 3rd loss if you continue straight into another game.
  14. Always stay positive. As lux often says, staying positive can turn games around by sheer force of will and mindset. I've come back from games where all inhibitors were destroyed and we had no nexus turrets, yet were able to win a very late teamfight. One fight was all it took, but everyone stayed focused and positive. _The moment you start to complain either internally or externally in chat, you start to tilt yourself and lose focus on what matters: coming back from a deficit. Too many times I see kids literally give up at 5 minutes and want to forfeit. FIVE MINUTES. Nothing in league is decided in five minutes, except your mentality.
  15. Finally (and because I wanted to round off with 15), learn to close out games and take advantage. Did your team just kill their jungler? Take baron. Won a teamfight and they're down 2-3 players, and you have a lane pushing the minion wave up? Group and take that turret. Inversely, if you still win a fight or kill an enemy player but your teammates are just a little too low (or out of crucial ultimates), learn to back off and just take that small win. Multiple small wins usually result in a victory. I highly recommend buying Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" and reading it thoroughly. It's a really old book, but the lessons are invaluable if you understand them well enough to apply to any team fight/battle. You'll start realizing just how fucking simple the League is once you directly apply some of the book's teachings.

Also one more.......

Git gud. :P

Listen Closely

If you go into the game, with the mindset you will lose, you will lose If you go into life, with the mindset you are not ready and you will fail, you WILL fail If you believe that you can't climb YOU WILL NOT CLIMB Why would you go into a game with the mindset that you will lose?

Now Listen Closely

Don't focus on climbing, focus on what you can get better at, Cs, Warding, decision making, mechanics, and for gods sake, (and I havn't seen you do this yet but making sure) Don't blame your team, yeah they may be the reason you lost, but YOU CAN ALWAYS IMPROVE, THERE IS NOT A SINGLE SITUATION WHERE YOU CAN'T IMPROVE YOURSELF.

Now Listen Closely

Here is a list of champs you need to learn to climb Annie Got it? Own her? Have a basic rune page? Good :) Now, Don't Go Into Ranked Yet, go into norms, go into practice mode, and just, practice, practice cs'ing, practice flash r, and then, when you are comfortable with her, go into ranked

Fun fact, You Will lose, you will fail, at some point you will suck and you just have to accept it. Last season i had a 42% winrate on my main Ahri, I was so bad, and I knew it, this season, it took my 96 games to go from B2 (where I was placed) To gold 5 61lp. I am a reasonably mechanically gifted player, I picked up Cassi as well, on cassio (61% winrate) On Ahri (63% winrate)

Now... Listen... One last time...

You may not climb this season, but if you put in the time and the practice, you will, at some point, climb.

Thanks for reading! I enjoyed typing this out. Sincerely, Jargon wan Ahri Main

Lower ELO tiers exist for a reason- you don't have to be a god at the game to enjoy it.

Just fine tune your mechanics. Are you consistent at getting CS? Do you roam enough? Do you know how to play vs bad matchups? Are you comfortable teamfighting or are you more of a splitpusher? Do you ward enough? Is your build versatile (for example, You pick Zed mid and enemy team has Malzahar mid/support. Do you build qss? How soon do you build it?) at all? How aware are you of the map? League is all about mechanics and awareness. If you work to improve them, you could reach gold within a month OP
