Ranked AFk or DC shouldn't punish the team

So I decided to get on today and I was in a really good mood excited to test my self in ranked and hopefully gain some LP! Our team seemed to have good synergy and it was a very easy process selecting champs. Now this great start to what i was hoping to be a good day was instantly ruined by our rek' sai being afk. The fight instantly became a 4v5 and the opposing team had a huge advantage of map control, I know I'm not the only one to experience something like this and this isnt the only game that this has happened to me. When this situation does occur though its basically an instant loss and yes i know it isnt impossible to make a comeback and win. But I happen to be in Silver 5 so the likely hood of that is pretty low. This experience really made me enjoy league of legends a whole lot less and i can say i didnt have fun what so ever. I don't know if anyone will see this but i think this is a way you could really improve the ranked system is to fix something like this.
