In-Game Lore Shouldn't Stop Pre-Reworked Champions From Being Playable

I want to make it very clear that I respect the Riot Games development team's right to do whatever they want with League of Legends, they did create it after all. I am only trying to bring to light the problems that arise when they decide to rework champions that were otherwise functional in the meta. I'm going to be writing about three major reworks in this post that don't sit well, these being Aatrox, Irelia, and Akali. While I am not saying that these champions should be reverted, I do believe that Riot should allow us to play the previous iteration's of the champions, they both have their own merits and I understand why people like the new champions more than their previous counterparts, and vice versa. Hopefully I can create an interesting conversation with this post, I want to get your opinions about the matter.

I do believe all of this controversy sparked when Aatrox was reworked. Aatrox, unlike Irelia and Akali, was a pretty garbage champion that didn't see competitive play and was generally a troll pick until his mini rework that saw his win-rate go up slightly. Something strange happened though, and in the month of his inevitable rework, Aatrox was viable, and a really damn good champion. His win-rate went above 50% and for the first time in years he was picked in the LCS by 100T. Despite this, he still got reworked, and Riot had left all Aatrox mains in awe; our amazing auto based champion with a cool passive and skill shots had been turned into a Riven-esque brute with no resemblance to Aatrox at all. Personally, I find the new Aatrox to be a boring champion with way too much damage for what his kit entails. With old Aatrox, the Blood well was an insanely intricate passive that amazing players could wield at it's max potential, but could still be used by less skilled players to survive a deadly encounter, and his Q, Dark Flight brought an amazing engage that if you landed it, would knock people up once, not three times with massive crit damage. People who mained Aatrox simply don't anymore, I'll bring up Hashinshin as one; Aatrox just simply isn't as fun complicated as he is an auto champ.

Please let me remind you that I am not arguing for the reverting of these champions, I would just like to see a future where old beloved versions of champions are available for play.

Irelia is very much like Akali, and I'll bring up points that address both of them. While I don't believe that every Irelia main and Akali main dislike the new iterations, I have proof that some do. Take GBay99 and Prof. Akali for instance. In my knowledge, Gbay99 rarely plays Irelia from what I can see in his match history, he also barely uploads to Youtube anymore. On the contrary, Prof. Akali just recently uploaded his opinion on the new Akali rework stating that "she is unable to be played due to her ridiculously high ban-rate, and when she is picked, her kit provides a miserable experience for the enemy team. Despite this he does enjoy playing the champion, but recognizes the faults she has, being frequently banned because she isn't fun to play against. From my knowledge on the champions before they were reworked, these things just didn't happen because neither of them were considered OP or not fun to play against.

I don't want my argument to come off the wrong way, I'm not saying all champions that were reworked should have their old versions re-released; I doubt anyone wants to play against old Poppy, Yorick, or Urgot. I don't really want to keep writing, I'm gonna go. Please take the time to comment your thoughts, I'd love to see what others think about this. I'm also a salty Aatrox player who just wants his champion back.
