i also want to add that nasus doesnt seem like a late game champion at all because champions like fiora and riven outscales him so easily the only thing nasus is good at is split pushing with i feel is almost impossible to do against fiora, jax,riven and more :C he is more like a mid game champ to me :/
He needs some kind of rework, he's just outdated rn.
Spirit Fire is one of the strongest early game spell in the game actually. One trick Nasus players will know that. Only Morgana's W n Galio's/Gragas' Q come close. But Nasus' E is further range, wider aoe, dmg falls off fast later on but armor reduction still relevant.
As a lifesteal tank and siege machine/split pusher, Nasus is in a good place. Don't play him wrong- he's not a lategame Dmg dealer. He has good dmg but far too little mobility for that. I feel he just needs maybe one more CC skill as a tank and he'll be fine.
I think u're trying to play him as a damage dealer. He can deal a ton of dmg eventually but he's really more useful as a lifesteal tank, albeit with less cc and peel than normal tanks.
