@Riot. My friends. On your Ranked solo MM. Pick one. Duoing off tiers, Positional MM, or Visable MMR
The player base who rely on Op.GG that don't understand Elo systems are going to only see what to them looks like a mismatched round. Faith in the system is a core part to keeping players engaged in trying to win.
Duoing off tiers, when positional MM gives wider MMR ranges? not ideal, looks bad. upsets players.
Positional MM? Well... you seemed to learn pretty fast about the issues when it hit live off players halfassing non main roles so making it negitivly impact LP for folks who don't try is far as I can see the right call so gj on that. But your not accounting for Duoqueing in a way I can properly support. I might be wrong but I don't feel like I am.
I might be wrong, but I feel like Positional MM + the Skill gap between a Silver 4 Bronze MMR player and A Gold 1 Plat MMR player representing something like 80%+ of the player base, when their LP is mostly built around main roles means that queing in off roles is an EVEN wider range. This.... just seems to make MM suffer in its ability to make a good game to me.
You can totally keep both In place if you show players their MMR.
I honestly don't care if its visible or not because I trust Elo derivatives to function properly and don't feel you guys broke the system. I do think its going to turn off players if it is unaddressed.
My personal suggestion is scrap Duoing off tiers. Make it off players MMR ranges to never be past a class interval that MM uses to build a "Fair" game. You don't have to show that number to players, just prevent the mismatches with a "MMR gap is to large, go play flex" If a red sees this and I am wrong. Please alert me as I will self correct when proven incorrect.
Far as players go.... If you don't understand a viewpoint I presented box quote what's confusing and I will explain the logic I used. Or if you disagree and want to provide proof please feel free to do so because again if i am wrong I intend to self correct.
