Duo Top Strategies

With the jungle exp/gold nerfs awhile ago has there been any uptick in duo Top combos like old school Garen/J4? I brought up thise idea when the jungle changes dropped but at this point I believe there is simply more data to work with on Duo Top's strengths and weaknesses in relation to the current game state.

Granted in solo que, unless you have a duo, you pretty much can't make this work. But imagine banning the top level 2 junglers and your top "support" stays in top lane pushing it down but only leaving to secure scuttle and buffs? Pros - In this situation logically the enemy jungler better come help top or it's an early tower for the enemy team with all that plate gold, and Top is the split pushing lane. Cons - You're leaving whole parts of your jungle for enemy to farm early and you're leaving bot to fend for itself in 2-4v2 scenarios worse than before along with less dragon control.

Go one step further and have two tanky support style champs each running smite and farming top and bot jungles before going to top and bot lane. -Your side of the jungle is secured, starving enemy jungler of invade farm, forcing them to have to gank somewhere with a jungle that's reduced in exp and gold. You have some dragon control. Challenging Smite in bot lane early could actually be good vs those strong early adc's. Better objective control mid to late game. Pressure on top splits enemy jungler's attention. Cons- Enemy jungler will likely just camp bot along with the roaming enemy mid to try and gimp your strategy which could easily tilt your bot lane. Again, still less dragon control than having a straight jungler.
