How is your "score" determined?

So, I am in a game and at the end I earned an A+, the Lee Sin earned an S-. EDIT I am playing Morgana.

Me: 17 kills, 6 deaths, 26 assists Him: 21 kills, 13 deaths, 21 assists

Me: 41, 760 damage to champions Him: 36,903 damage to champions

Me: 82,402 damage dealt Him:80,638 damage dealt

Me: 48 CS Him: 50 CS

Me: 6234 healing done Him: 3196 healing done

So, I beat him in K/D ratio, I had more assists, more damage to Champions by a significant margin, more damage over all, more healing than him and I shielded the crap out of our tank and whoever else was in the line of fire.

He beat me on kills and CS by two minions.

He is an AD and I am a support. I would say I did my job way better than he did his. I had almost three times as many kills as deaths and he did not even have twice as many kills as deaths. I am NOT a great player by any means. Heck, I am not even a good player on most days. I am not crying that I got an A+ I am proud of that! I am just REALLY confused as to how we are graded? Does anyone know a real reason why he would get a better score, other than "more kills"?

You can't compare champ to champ in getting a rank. Each champ rank is based on how the overall pool of players do on that champ. It is why it is incredibly hard to get an S on some champs in comparison to others.

It probably takes into account the intended role of the champion, as per their little subtitle theme. This, I assume, is why I can go 2/1/53 with Support Nasus and end up with an A-.

.... Although come to think of it, it sounds like you don't have that problem, unless you were supporting with LeBlanc.

You're compared to all (so from sub-30 to top tier challenger) performances on the same champion (so morg is only compared to other morgs) being played in the same role (so morg support is only compared to other morg supports, and morg mid is compared to other morg mids, but morg mids aren't compared to morg supports).

Supports usually aren't focused (as they're usually not much of a damage threat compared to mid/adc) and tend to have a kit/build oriented around keeping them/their team alive, and so the best supports will rarely have many deaths, so that may be an area you could be improving on.

Warding/ward clearing and objective participation are also factors, it's not just kda/cs/damage.
