Iceborn Gauntlet is too much better than trinity force now?
Let's see, why is
so much better now? Let's see, I think it does a lot more than it may appear at first glance.
+65 armor. That's a lot. You'll take a lot less physical damage and it increases the size of its zone.
+500 mana. Again, quite a lot, and it is more good synergy with this item since it lets you use your abilities so much more before you'd run out of mana. And if you have that mastery to regain 1.5% of missing mana every 5 seconds, this increase in maximum mana is really going to get you a lot more mana. And it increases your AD if you have muramana and even increases the extra damage of the muramana since you have more mana.
+20% CDR. Again, another big amount, and more good synergy since it lets you use your abilities so much more. Even if you have no other CDR this alone lets you use your abilities 25% more.
The spellblade. This is the real kicker. It doesn't just slow, but it actually does more damage than trinity force. That's right, it does 125% base AD to all enemies in the zone. Trinity force only does 200% base AD to one enemy. Meaning that, even if you hit 2 enemies with one Ezreal q, it's already stronger than trinity force, not even counting that it slows them. This is a lot of damage and slow for something only on a 1.5 second cooldown.
Oh and that's not all. You might think Trinity Force is still better since it still does so many other things and it really does increase your damage by more. Well that may be true, it also costs a whopping 1100 gold more than an iceborn gauntlet. As in, it may do more but it's still less efficient. And iceborn has a pretty good build path, going through a sheen and not having to use up more than 2 spaces in your inventory except maybe 3 in some cases. Trinity force uses up tons of space while building.
I liked the days when Ezreal felt balanced and it felt like he could get either one, and neither was OP. Nowadays, every EZ builds the same thing. And as predictable as it is, there's not really much of a counter to it except if he messes up.
The other thing is, does anyone even use trinity force anymore? Sure, I see it on Yasuo, but he has double crit so he gets a lot more from it than most other champions.
