I just realized something about reworked Galio...

He's literally a better version of Shen.

Think about it:

  • his Q is a ranged version of Shen:s Q (basically better in everyway)
  • his W is a vastly superior version of Shen's taunt since it is AoE AND gives him damage reduction (that scales with items) no matter if he hits someone or not
  • his E is a delayed version of Shen's dash BUT it knocks up enemies hit
  • his R, while not global, provides damage reduction (infinitely better than a shield) and deals damage AND knocks people in a pretty large area.

So let's see, compared to Shen, Galio has an easier to apply Q, has an AoE taunt, has damage reduction (which is far better than shields), has more CC with his dash and ult, and his ult is AoE, deals damage, CC's but is not global. The only thing Shen does that Galio doesn't is block auto-attacks (which means it is still vulnerable to abilities and AoE's) but who needs that when you can crowd control people much easier with your E and W? And dont forget Galio's magic shield (which is just a cherry on top of the cake really)

So tell me, why would you ever pick up Shen when Galio is reworked?

Shen can provide his team with 2 seconds of dodge. Shen can provide an instant defensive shield for 800 HP. Shen teleports to the ally even if the ally moves since the spell is cast Shen is fully global while Galio has a range. Shen also has strong dueling and chasing in his Q. Shen's taunt is less telegraphed (Galio has to dash in, which is slower than Shen's, and then cast another spell. Shen dashes quickly and taunts on contact) Shen strikes me as being a better chaser than Galio, but that's hard to say until Galio is out.

Shen is still much better for saving overextended individuals and protecting important targets. Galio is more about being able to create a frontline from almost anywhere on the map. Shen is probably going to be better than Galio at his classic role of intervening in a teamfight then immediatley teleporting back top to apply pressure.

Gotta love people who upvote or downvote without adding anything to the table...

Shen can ult is adc getting ganked in bot from top. Galio has to be a lot closer.

Shen probably is not weaker than Galio. You can't downplay that passive and making his teammates immune to autos too; not to mention his sustained damage is higher, his taunt comes out faster And his ult is instant and IS global map pressure as opposed to nearly global.

Galio beats Shen handily when it comes to disrupting the enemy team, not so much in raw dueling power and speed
