I thought about Shyvana some more. I came up with an update idea for her

excuse the MS paint, was looking to just provide a quick illustration in case my words don't come across clear enough

i thought the idea of a dragon scorching the battlefield and then fighting in the fires would be really cool which inspired me to write this

very rough ideas but they appealed to me enough that i felt i'd throw it out. Idea was to give Shyvana a more distinct winning condition and a little bit more to do overall, while maintaining her kit's simplicity. now she's a very aggressive space-control/territory champion, able to occupy very large swaths of the battlefield with fire and discouraging passing over with the threat of damage. She's still very AA focused but her spells become more of a means to enable the AA-ing rather than her just being 100% about right clicking. in addition i tried to differentiate her human vs dragon form so that transforming feels more like a choice, and either form.

Shyvana also gains, in addition to high zoning potential and area coverage, the ability to play in a lane again; since she can apply her passive on minions with E for safer wave-prepping or aggro them and trail with W to pseudo-proxy, she gains a huge amount of wave-pushing power and the ability to chew up waves pre-Tiamat. Her poke range is certainly worse, as well as unable to whittle people down through minions, but I think the tradeoffs of higher safety and good dive potential make up for it.

passive changed: Shyvana's spells leave lingering cinders when they strike an enemy or neutral unit. After a delay, they become hot again, and the next unique spell that hits the cinders or a unit on the cinders ignites it, leaving a burning zone for a few seconds. Fresh cinders that spawn on top of a fire will ignite instantly. Shyvana gains armor and movement speed while on burning trails. Cinders that ignite on top of an already burning trail refresh the zone's duration.

igniting the trail turns it firey; enemies who were marked will immediately be unmarked when struck by the first tick of the fire damage (e.g once they're damaged they don't spread the trail until you hit them with another spell)

Q: Functionally unchanged, but now stuns moderately and applies/procs passive depending. Does not have its CD reduced by auto attacks.

W: Functionally unchanged, but now leaves a trail behind her. Maybe has its duration refreshed on the burning trail. IDK

E changed: Casting paradigm is something like Nunu's new E; fast, single-target and blockable projectiles with short-mid range, with a few casts for the duration of the spell. Shyvana gains several charges of skillshot fireballs, firing each one with a press of E. The cooldown between fireballs is based on Shyvana's attack speed. Enemies that have passive applied through E create a trail that follows them until 1 second after they become hot. In addition, enemies marked with E will be dealt bonus damage by Shyvana's basic attacks and burning trails based on a percent of their maximum HP.

R now forces Shyvana to land behind enemies she has struck with the dash.

Dragon form spells changed slightly:

Q now becomes an AOE in front of Shyvana (making it missable) that pulls all units struck towards the middle (without counting as a displacement) and stuns. Brief delay.

W - I'm not sure what else to do with the spell.

E is functionally similar but still changed; has a brief delay and higher missile speed. Enemies struck either by the initial blast or the lingering fire trail have the mark applied to them.

Shyvana can now return to Human form by recasting R.


obviously this probably wouldn't be a complete rework but the idea of it made me think it was something that'd make Shyvana much more interesting and might make me interested in playing her. thanks for reading, let me know how you feel about this, I've got a couple of these in the making now that I have more free time
