does anyone actually play fotm champs like yi and lux because they think they are fun?

this is not a thread to complain. i am genuinely curious if anyone actually enjoys playing these champions. when i get lux in aram it is the most boring thing i have had the displeasure of playing in the game next to sitting under my tower vs a poke team when my team is all melee.

EDIT: if you do enjoy playing any fotm champions i'd appreciate it if you told me why

Considering how many people play champions who aren't FotM (but may have been or eventually be) because they like them, yes.

Yes they do.

Considering mobility is the name of the game i consider Yasuo to be the most bitch ass FOTM champ ever created.

I don't let the FOTM determine which champion I'm playing. If I want to play someone I will. While I'm not a big fan of Yi I will sometimes pick Lux just for long-range damage fun (though I'm more likely to pick Ziggs in that case).

This is also why I don't play Ranked.

Yes. Lux is always fun, especially with her star guardian skin. Honestly it's more annoying when your champions become FOTM because you have to stop playing them for a while or have to deal with being associated with FOTM bandwagoners and deal with threads like this one.

I enjoy playing MasterYi in Summoner Rift, ( hate it in ARAM) just becuz it's fastest way to get IP/end game and annoying heck out of everyone. Was he ever FoTM?

I've always enjoyed Lux. She was my mid laner when I first started playing the game ten months ago. I was outright horrible with her, so I transitioned to using her as a Support. Every once in a while I will use her in mid again, but I've never been a decent duelist and end up doing worse than if I had run her Support. It's just more fun to play her as a snare/shield bot that helps the team with picks and saves. I don't play her as much now that I hit her level 5 mastery. I find Morgana to be better at the snare/shield bot role with her stronger harass due to the guaranteed TLD hit with Tormented Soil.

Lux was the first champion I ever bought, back when she actually wasn't that strong. I liked how safe she was while still doing decent damage. Back then, I used to only play versus AI so I liked how easy she was to learn. Nowadays, I appreciate her safety along with her damage output. I love playing her in aram. Line up the enemy team and ult them all. I've gotten quadra kills on aram with her like that. The Q-E-R combo has always been strong, it's just now stronger. Lux can also play many roles, mainly mid and support but I have taken her top lane before versus a Teemo. She's very good for new players since her abilities are simple but effective. Is Yi fotm? I always just see him played a lot in lower elos because he is easy to learn and very strong late game. Higher elos don't really touch him much anymore, I thought.

I play the champions I want, regardless of if they're strong or not, or considered FotM. I played Lucian when he was sitting at a 47% W/L. I play him now. People shouldn't play champions just because they've become popular xD
