Placements are suspect

After finishing the last 3 seasons in Gold, I just finished my placements at 8-2 and I fully expected a slight dip in division, perhaps Silver 1 or 2 because Riot said the soft ELO reset can make that happen. But after having what I consider to be a very strong placements showing, I got put in Silver 5. Anyone else feel the placements are bullshit?
