Toward the end there is a contour plot showing how much damage a full combo from the new Vel'Koz does based on Vel's AP and the target's MR. He can hit almost 4k on champs with lots of MR with fairly pedestrian AP values late game.
His early game, multi-target damage, and reliability suffered significantly and his decision points for itemization and teamfighting feel remarkable worse. THe patch is an actual nerf to hi overall laning and teamfight damage potential.

vel koz is great at dealing damage that is true, but he is also really good at taking damage too and becoming dead
