Losing a Tier versus Gaining One
I have noticed something that I believe is detrimental to the mental 'health' of ranking up.
When you lose a tier Gold IV -> Gold V, let's say. And you do so on a losing streak, then, when you drop down the tier, you'll often 'start' Gold V at something like ~70 lp. However, whenever you GAIN a tier, even if it's after a 10 game winning streak (unless this happens to be very early in your ranked career) then you inevitably start the next tier at 0 lp.
Why not treat ranking up and down with the same measure of 'hope'? Momentum builds in two directions, and it's nice to have visual cues to indicate as such.
Naysayers will say "well, you do, when you win the NEXT game you get ~30 lp when you win!" True, but, what if you lose that game? Or what if your streak dies? And the same is true in the opposite direction. So that seems like a mute point.
TL;DR: I want to start tiers like I leave them, somewhere into the tier, not sitting at 0. kkthxbuy :)
