"Chill guyz it's just a NORMAL!"

I've been playing this game for a while but looks like the community has already reached it's lowest point - at least from my sight. People - or should I call them Summoners - are no longer want to actually play the game but flaming and spamming to and for each other. When you start i.e. a normal game nobody will fight for the win, because it "doesn't matter" for them. They just wanted to try out a new champion, a new build, use the chat function, spamming MIDMIDMID everywhere... and honestly, (as a support) I'm really tired of their shit. So...

  • Ranked became the new normal?
  • Why do you actually play normal games? What do you want to achieve?
  • If you're winning (or you think you will) why do you want to spam "gg easy" "first time XY" "bot game" "tryhard" "more for me" in ALL chat?

People are playing unranked matches that don't matter to have fun? What is this madness?

Yeah, not everyone's going to share the same objectives. And yeah, it's annoying when you get people who obviously have priorities other than winning. But the things you're complaining about? The spammers, the trolls, the people who call lanes and never shut up? You get them in Ranked too.

People play unranked matches for fun and to try out new champs without having to suffer the loss of LP.

normal games are for fun

Normal games are my warmups before ranked, or my break if I'm on a losing streak. It's just to take it easy and get a feel for the game. I hate when people rage in normals so badly. I will say "relax it's just a normal game" because I want it to be a break and not a rage fest.

I came out to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now.

I used to play normals but then I realized that there were to many "it's just normals" idiots making those games unplayable. Now all I play is ranked, with an occasional normal game with my friends. I'm a very competitive person and I can't stand it when people don't take the game seriously and don't try hard for the win, so that's why I only play ranked now.

Here is how I see the match types breaking down

Blind pick: As long as you are not actively trying to lose then you can do whatever you want.

Draft Pick. Practice for ranked. Should be taken more serious than Blind pick. Should probably stick to the meta but as long as you are trying to win you are fine.

ARAM: As long as you are not actively trying to lose then you can do whatever you want. (If you flame in this mode you are pathetic)

Ranked: Play to win. Do not first time a champion here.

Also, "If you're winning (or you think you will) why do you want to spam "gg easy" "first time XY" "bot game" "tryhard" "more for me" in ALL chat?" The people that do this are assholes. Put them on ignore and move on. They will never be better than anyone else in anything else in life so they need to do everything in their power to gloat at this insignificant victory. Keep that in mind and you won't be bothered by it. Just feel sorry for them.

  • Ranked is where people actually strive to achieve something, unlike normals where people just play for the fun of it and don't care as much whether they win or lose. In ranked, you are actually trying to get somewhere (a higher rank) rather than just playing the game. You have a goal. Sure, you have a goal to win the game in normals, but to a lot of people it doesn't mean as much. You can't lose anything in a normal game whereas you lose LP in a ranked match if you lose.
  • Normals is where people who play ranked go to achieve skill in playing a new champ that you haven't played before or aren't comfortable enough to play in ranked yet. I don't want to go into a ranked match playing Bard just yet. I'm not as comfortable with him, especially his ult, but I'm getting there by playing normals.
  • The only answer I have for this one is that these are the assholes of the community who don't excel at anything in life but League, so they think that they have to basically announce their dominance over you.

Let me correct myself, because it seems I messed that up earlier.. really hard. I DO NOT CARE if you win or lose a game. What I DO CARE is how you do it. It's a lot easier to say "that game is lost" or "surrender at 20" instead of change your playstyle, your attitude - whatever it's called, and question yourself: "what could I do better to not lose that given matchup?"

But again, it's not about winning. It's about the amount of effort you put in a single game. This statement leads to my next conclusion: if I want to play for the "fun" part as most of you suggested I would almost anytime play ranked game above an average normal one. Why? Because the ELO system encourages people to COMMUNICATE better with each other. They are (or can be) more forgivable for misplays and sometimes (SOMETIMES) they respect and thankful for the help their team provides. Why - again? Because knowing your champion is less important than knowing the situation you're in. You can easily avoid to be ganked if you place down wards or have a better map awareness. You can survive as a duo on bot lane as long as you pay attention to your "significant other's" needs. If one lane starts to fall you can create pressure on another one. Etc. Etc. The point is: LISTEN and COMMUNICATE.

This should be the reason to play. Because in this specific scenario it doesn't matter what role you choose with what kind of champion. If you prefer to play i.e. Annie jungler, Shen support... go for it! I won't stop you! For me it's irrelevant - as long as you don't give up, because "what else could I do? I'm just a Shen support.."

At this point I need to separate some misconception. I'm not talking about the differences between champions. You cannot change that therefore you must ignore your perception and live with theirs. But if you play for the win of course your champion select and build order will mirror that. (Like 3 lifesteal item on a Zed) That is some personal preference - and nothing to do with me.

Overall here comes my ultimate: if you think fun games are the ones you won before, you're gonna have a bad time. You can stop reading now because this article probably isn't for you. But if you share something common with me, you'll understand my struggle. Because I won't give up. I can't surrender. I don't have the Heart to see my precious Minions losing their very home.

Besides that if even I cannot prevent such disaster who else will?

I feel like many people don't realize what they say. In the sentence "it's just a game". There is the word "game". And that mean that the objective is to win. There is two way to have fun. With the other players or at the expense of the other players. The latest is unacceptable as a community. That's exactly what happens when you refuse to follow the objective of the game.

Trying a new build or a new champion is fine. Removing all your armies from Iceland because you don't want to play anymore is not. You are just ruining the whole experience.
