A buddy of mine and I have found out that if you own all of the champions and a new one comes out, it's cheaper to buy 3 Champion Shards and combining them into a champion permanent than it is to spend the 7800 IP on the new champion. Although this does only work if you own all of the previous champions, it's still a helpful tip for people who are spending time scraping together the IP for the new champs, giving them more to spend on Runes and Rune Pages :^)
Champions should really be much cheaper than they are, this seems like only a small step towards something the game should have done a long time ago.
This also works for 6300 IP champions, if you have everything else. Three shards is like 5100 IP. If you get boxes and keys and get lucky and get a champion shard it's even cheaper.
You could get 4800 IP champs for like 3400 IP if you get one shard from a box and buy two shards from the store.
This is what I'm waiting for. D: I only need 6 more champs!
Sadly they're all 4800 champs and so I can't buy shards to get them cheaper.
