Kayn needs help....

Kayn has most definitely had his challenges since released. The community over all seems to be very hot or cold with no in between when it comes to seeing him on their team. At the moment if someone has him selected I am noticing about a 20% chance that a team mate will ban him because "I dont want a **** feeding Kayn on my team!" Something usually only seen for Teemo or old Urgot. (Great job on the new Urgot btw... though I foresee some balance changes with him as well...)

Mechanically he is very different. With the ability to choose going sustain/tank bruizer or assassin in a game is quite useful based on your team comp and the situation on who is ahead. Having that option does have its drawbacks. He will never be able to be as good as a champion that can only go one way. He will never be able to engage like a Mao when red kayn or get in and out like a zed when blue kayn. That is expected, however he feels a little too lack luster in an attempt for balance.

I propose one small change which should add some mechanical complexity raising the skill cap along with outplay potential. It should be easy to implement and will give him an over all increase in smooth seamless game play.

Change his Q to a two stage ability like Warwick. Press Q to dash and do dash damage only giving you quick disengage when trying to escape after using an ult. This would be a huge benefit to assassin Kayn as his current disengage is almost non existent without flash in a team fight after using his ult. When going for an all in simply hold Q to both dash and do the finish spin animation for both damage procs.

This mechanic would also greatly benefit red kayn for gap closing to hit a swift W to initiate a team fight which could later be followed up with a full held down Q once off its low CD in mid-late game.

Over all this should make Kayn a bit more viable and versatile in skirmishes and team fights. Hopefully with this small change we could see some improved performance and a higher win % for this champion to improve his current standing in the community.

Thank you Riot for your fantastic work on developing a complex and engaging sport its players can be proud to play and for giving this suggestion your consideration.

Sincerely,

A player with deep love for the game -

GON BATTE NE!

I think Kayn is in a sweet spot right now with both forms.

Haven't played as kayn yet - don't have the rp or ip to buy him, but he looks really fun. From my many games playing with and against him though, I can say that every kayn who goes darkin and has half a clue how to play the champ does just fine on him. Kayn is plenty strong if not a bit too strong in darkin form. Haven't seen much of the shadow assassin form though - just 1 game or so. But basically darkin kayne mid/late game is like a fed akali - except he doesn't even need to be snowballed to get like that; he just needs items. If anything, I would tune down some of his darkin form damage or the scaling on it but with higher base damage if it's too weak from getting it's scaling reduced. I've heard of fed shadow assassin kayn's getting off an auto and ult and killing the enemy adc - which seems a bit stupid - like rengar was reworked for doing that too easily when ahead. But I can't say if he's very good from behind or even or just when slightly ahead.
