So much struggle and have no fun to play tank in lower Elo. Can't do anything but see me dying painfully. Actually, no-one helping or make team fights until u dead and then team will sacrifice themselves 4 vs 5. Most common scenarios in lower Elo .. Then Riot says "welcome to Elo Hell."
Tanking in low elo is less about relying on people to act on you and more about you acting on what other people want.
Basically think of yourself as a gory babysitter and everyone else as a bloodlusted lunatic. They all want kills but suck at surviving, so you make it so they survive those situations. Low elo players can be good mechanically but suck at surviving, so making them survive gives you a better chance at winning.
Bronze tank main here. My teams love it when they see my 
in the top lane. Once I have my second item built I start roaming lanes and we crush objectives. The key is communication. I see where we need to push, ping the lane and call for team fight in chat. Once I hit the lane and the others get there we light it up.
In bronze Solo/Duo I find playing tank gives my team and advantage because the other team is trying to have 5 carries. I couldn't care less about how many kills I get. So my team benefits from me hooking their highest dmg dealer into the center of a fight and melting them down like butter in a microwave. If we have a good healer that keeps up alive after that we are sure to win every team fight.

Sure. Useless. Until you realize that you just have to communicate. Or that your squishy team stands no chance against any assassins at all, because you have nobody that can survive burst.
Depends on the tank. Amumu is king of low ELO, he's a tank. The thing is, low ELO is dominated by hyper carrying due to how easy it is to kill bad-decision making players. However, what's the counter to hyper carries? Not moving. And that's what tanks do. Go in hard, CC the hyper carry and just give your life to hopefully allow allies to kill him and win the fight. Lower ELO hoards kills to single players because KDA bragging rights, so that's often how you win team fights.
Just wait until your team is right there to go in. Personally, people tend to go in if the tank successfully snags the carry in my games.
Low ELO tank is you being this massive wall that shits on every out-of-position carry trying to kill your carry.
If you really don't like tanks, just pick literally any bruiser. They all stomp in low elo.
