Honor System Needs Revamp Soon

So, adding my two cents on the new Honor System. It has really been one of the things weighing on my mind during gameplay in the last few weeks. I really feel that it does slightly more harm to the average player than good in its current state. Chime in if you feel the same!

Pros:

  1. Great interface - GUI is intuitive, graphics are slick.
  2. Attempt to Improve - I can semi-appreciate the attempt to have players take the Honor System more seriously (though I do feel that use of the old honor system had dropped off significantly in the last year for some reason).
  3. Decent Rewards - I appreciate the incremental reward implementation (though I'd prefer a tiny handful of RP to a key fragment) and goal oriented nature of the new system - hypothetically encouraging players to become more positive and team-oriented.
  4. Keeps Special Indicators - The later level rewards are enticing - I loved having the ribbon indicators in the old system, it gave me a little pride in my gameplay and also informed me on another level about my teammates.
  5. Decent Honor Categories - The 3 honor options are good enough for the task at hand. Most of my teammates fit into one of the categories.
  6. Moderate Incentive - Though I don't see it pop up much, I love the extra small reward teams get when everyone participates in handing out honor - another great incentive.

Cons:

  1. Teamwork? - There are some times when more than one person deserves a rate up; it is, after all, a team game.
  2. Sportsmanship? - There are some times when a worthy opponent deserves honor; good sportsmanship on both sides of the battle should be encouraged.
  3. Impulsive - The system, as it stands, is more impulsive and opinion-swayed than the previous system; I believe this is due to a number of factors including: a player can only award a single person honor and that game overview/stats are only visible after the honor screen (I realize stats aren't necessarily everything, but they should be a factor at times). Unless you take a quick peek at the TAB summary right before the game ends, you are asking players to solely rely on memory to award honor. For myself at least, being able to see real data can sometimes change my opinion (who was actually effective vs who just had the most kills, or who was actually very helpful vs who I though was helpful, but really only got in gear the last minutes of the game) or jog my memory on what occurred during the game. Memory of the game can sometimes be a fog depending on how one focuses.
  4. Vague Levels - Others have mentioned already that being able to see an indicator for where I am at in my current level would be helpful, I agree. The "black box" approach to levels is not enticing.
  5. What Are Others Looking For? - I, for one, would like to see how other people were honored/not honored (not who honored who); it is easy to argue right now that in most game I've played, it seems that few are giving honor at all.
  6. Overlooked Roles - This kind of fits with Con #3 - support roles and tank roles are very often overlooked as honor recipients; for instance I've run some near-perfect support games and gotten zero honor points, instead I notice it is usually a mage or ADC that gains the "most honored player" mark.
  7. Too Black & White - The new system may, very simply, have been dumbed down too much.

What do you all think?
