Can we give every role an equal impact in determining the outcome???
I don't understand how climbing in LOL is supposed to be determined purely on how well you play your role when some roles are just flat out "better" than other roles at doing it.
Right now its like this
-
Jungle: This role has a huge presence around the map and we all know what a good
can do to your lane. What makes this role so good at determining the outcome isn't just the disgusting ganks they can dish out to snowball the game, but its the fact that that isn't even the only thing they can do. If you want, you can just power farm like a
and wait for the mid-late game. Or maybe do a little of both like
. No coincidence he's one of, if not the best jg right now. -
Mid: The role also has a huge map presence since it sits in the middle of the map. You have the ability to stand in lane and just destroy your lane opponent, or if you want you can gank the hard pushing top like the jungler. Or, you can do what every mid laner does and go shit on the enemies bot lane with your jungler for a four man gank. If you master mid lane, you can dish out nearly as much global pressure as a jungler, while still having the option of just destroying your lane opponent, which is exactly what makes this a close second.
-
Top: This is the first real drop off when it comes to impact, you definitely have the ability to shit on your lane opponent if you master your role, but your ability to make that lead felt elsewhere is a bit more difficult.
makes it easier, but overall you are isolated from the team till at least the mid game, which would make this a pretty bad role; however top lane has champions that can almost 1 v 5 a team fight when really ahead
, and it also has the most IMPACTFUL splitpushers as well.
. This gives you a way to win the game even if your team can't team fight but you yourself is fed. -
Sup: Now it's kind of funny how even support is above adc, but there is a good reason for that. Supports have more control over who wins the laning phase than ADC's. Of course there are still some who's job is to just keep their adc alive and hope he carries.
, but for the most part this role makes you the main determining factor for winning a lane or not, especially with all the mage supports. Sups and ADC's alike still have to stay in bot lane and let the rest of the map play out, but there are a good amount of sups who have some roaming capabilities.
etc. And supports are the main source of vision for the team, so they can help you win that way as well. -
ADC: This role, imo has probably the lowest impact out of all roles. There's a reason the only adcs to make it really high on the challenger ladder played in the LCS, other than the lane bullies
, most adcs gotta sit back and wait for their support to make plays in order to win a fight in lane. Of course, some adcs can take matters into their own hands post 6
(No coincidence that these are the best ADC's atm.), but for the most part ADCs aren't even the main factors in their own lane, can't roam without their support, and the lane in general is vulnerable to 4 man ganks that they just can't defend from. Yeah, for a lot of the adcs with no control in lane, they at least have a late game to fall back on, but in a meta where Riot is thinking about adding a FF@15 system, where a huge amount of champs have abilities that make kiting impossible
, and when no one helps the support peel for their adc in low elo, I don't see why anyone with real climbing aspirations would handicap themselves with this role, and Riot really needs to fix this problem.
