My thoughts about Aatrox & Volibear
Originally my comment for a Youtube video that asked which champions I would like to see reworked.
I wish they (Riot) would rework champions like Aatrox and Volibear.
For
W, instead of a toggle, they could make him do bonus damage based on a % of his Blood Well every X attacks passively, while making the Active drain your blood well instead of your health bar and rework the (innate) passive into something else entirely.l. His ult is also quite boring. The biggest problem for Aatrox is that one cheap item, Executioner's Calling (800g), counters him too hard to make him worth playing. He loses to most in an auto-attack war, including ADCs because they outrange, kite and crit. His Q, if missed, puts him in a horrible position and he will just get blown up. The slow on his E helps to land the knock-up on his Q but not always reliable. I believe Aatrox needs a full rework.
For
, even though his ult could sometimes be useful, I feel that it doesn't fit the role of a tank/juggernaut. Adding magic damage to his autos can be strong but unsatisfying and it lacks depth and strategy. Just hit the frontline or minion and acts like a
for the duration. I would much rather see utility for his team on his ult instead. His Q is ok but is like a worse version of Singed's E. He's just too reliant on his Q to do anything though. I probably would like to see his Q be an unstoppable charge in a target direction (that still flings first champion hit) rather than manually controlling him and depending if you can rightclick your target. Targets can move out of the way (counterplay) and Volibear won't be slowed/CC'd. It adds skill to both sides of the matchup/teamfight. You can remove the bonus % movespeed and instead adjust the charge speed for balance as needed.

have similar problems. Innate Passives are too similar to each other, I would argue that
's healing passive is better because not only is 30% max HP is a lot, especially if you count the effective HP he gets from resistances, plus
wants to build max HP not just for tankiness but for more Execute damage on his W.
's passive sucks because he loses Bloodwell when out of combat and has completely different function compared to rage/fury/ferocity bars from
and whoever else I may have missed. Both

have boring, unintuitive ults. Both are countered by
/
who can easily tumble/hop almost indefinitely.
