Why is Taric's heal so god damn awful?

Dunal·4/30/2016, 10:10:17 PM·4 votes·2,079 views

Don't get me wrong, the rest of his kit is really strong. But I feel that the heal is just so awful compared to before. Doesn't feel like it does anything.

I hope they buff it in return of nerfing his other abilities. It doesn't make sense that that even at 3 charges, it feels so lackluster (to the point where you might as well just as use it at 1 charge for the passive proc instead of waiting ages for 3 charges just for a less-mediocre-but-still-mediocre heal).

Anyone think the same?

because its AoE. Plain and simple

60+%AP may not be a TON at one rank, but you can heal all of your allies at once in an optimal situation. thats a potential 300 Health at rank one.

AoE heals can be hard to balance, but their usefulness is overbearing if the base heal is strong.

I mean, they COULD have made it a stronger heal (say like 180+%AP at 3 charges) and put it so that it is only 1/3 effective if healing multiple targets, but that would give a HUGE buff to his solo lane and eat up a bunch of power budget. Which would lead either to extreme nerfs of his other abilities, huge increases in mana costs, or both.

I like the heal because it is GREAT as support Taric as a 1st or second max, granting a decent amount to both him and his adc, but not being too strong for solo lane Taric, who is currently pretty strong in the right situations.

There you go. There is such a thing as a "power budget" for champions.

How about let's just say everyone who is not a dedicated healer has "shit heals"?

Hurr durr better compare those guys to Soraka, OMG WHY ARE HIS HEALS SO SHITTY DXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX?????????

Bard 's heals are "shit". Nami 's heals are "shit". Sona 's heals are "fucking garbage and needs buffs".

This is completely news, right?

His heals are fine. In fact, still on the overtuned side.

His heal is so bad because he knocks 10 seconds off its cooldown by using his passive. Otherwise he could spam it and it would feel like playing against URF Taric instead of regular Taric.

I think his heal is perfect, and in fact should be the example that all other healers should be based on COUGHSORAKACOUGH so that they are rewarded for not spamming heals. The reason it's so effective on Taric is that he can really spam it with the CDR it affords him from attacking while simultaneously greatly increasing his damage output.

MrLlamaWaffle4/30/2016, 10:39:10 PM1 votes

because it's impossible to balance a heal so they made it weak on purpose.

Savage Devi4/30/2016, 10:15:52 PM1 votes

Because it can heal the entire team at once, and is rather spammable in combat. It adds up, a lot.

Taric's heals doesn't suck, you are just better off shielding than healing. His heals are life saving but he is no Soraka. His healing style is all about abusing his passive and then heal, because spamming heals with cost you more than charging them up for then it counts.

probably because his stun is much better and his heal can actually hit 5 people now instead of 2 max.

Though I do wish the level 3 did a bit more. I'm fine with the super long cooldown for a good heal, but god damn it should actually be good if I waited that long or used my full rotation to get it up fast.

Because riot wants a game where people always dieing its the type of meta they want because when you have tanks and healers that can do their job adc and assassin plays cry that they cant 100-0 a person easily and it just so happens most people from riot that end up on media to play the game end up mid laners or adcs mains so seeing weak tanks and healers is what they inherently want too.

If you build the heal first you can get some pretty decent sustain from it

CoolKnightST4/30/2016, 10:20:03 PM1 votes

I personally don't have problems with the heal. The heal is basicly a dot enabler. It prevents your allies from dieing add the last second. Bit like a shield honnestly. It's basicly a mini heal that can cast from a long distance because of your W. I'm not sure how hard it will get nerfed since they are going to nerf the range of the W.

depends what you mean by weak. for example. 1 v 1 wukong ult is really weak dealing 110% ad a second ignorin base damage. so if you have an attack speed of 1.1ish or higher cough wukong e you would actually gain more dps off using autos but would lose the cc. but if you turn it into a 5 man ult it suddenly starts dealing 550% ad a second which autos (even kogs if he didnt get his damage reduced) cant match since that be a cap of 100 ad x 5 a second = 500%

now think of how taric will always have at least 2 people healed (him + person with w) his base healing is 120/240/360 (depending on charges) compair this to soraka whos base heal is 200 and you can start to see that its not actually weak but just has opportunities of strength and weakness like ryzes passive... (360 base... x 5 = 1800 heal on a basic spell... compair this to sorakas ult which is 350 base x 5 = 1750 thats pretty fucking nuts for a basic spell) granted you will VERY rarly land 5 man heals but the potential is there.
