The "big 6" of the Mage Update don't feel like they belong to the same class at all

#NOTE This is a repost 'cause I misclicked when picking the subboard before (derp)

Zyra Velkoz Vladimir Malzahar Cassiopeia Brand What do these guys have in common, honestly, apart from building AP and having no dash? I think we should start the updates by subsetting "mages" like we did with fighters. After all, "mages" are everything that builds AP and relies on spellcasting, bar Assassins and Tanks. So here's how I think we should categorize our mages, classes in order of urgency of rework. #1. Kiting mages The guys that win 1v1s by being able to outrun their opponent while they whittle them down. Each of them can then be more or less useful in teamfights, depending on the team's strategy, but their main role is countering fighters (in particular juggies and the Juggmages I'll talk about later) According to ole Cass mains, she was supposed to be able to kite while poisoning, thus putting her here. Notice that many other mages have some forms of self-peel that can allow them to play like that, but it's generally because they're still mages so have some form of CC. Anivia Ahri Cassiopeia Karma Syndra Viktor Notice that only Cassiopeia here needs a rework, Syndra just needing a better passive and Karma just being unsatisfactory because of the interesting aspects she lost with her old rework. So I'd suggest to just have Cass as a standalone rework much earlier than any other class.

#2. Juggmages If the title wasn't clear, the "juggernauts of mages". Short-ranged, durable mages that have some amount of bullshit in their kits to reward them for managing to get so close. Here lie several problematic peeps. Vladimir Ryze Swain Karthus (he's a bit of a stretch with that Q range and ult...)Annie Vlad has his Q that makes him unbalanceable in the toplane, where people are shorter ranged than him. Swain has his E (should it maybe become ground targeted like W, with the secondary thematic gain of giving more importance to prediction of enemy positioning as a good tactician? Maybe all his spells should be a short-ranged ground targeting?). Ryze's often said to be a bit of a mess overall, I don't really know about him despite playing him occasionally. Karthus is ok as is, he should maybe get his E buffed as compensation for hs W nerf? I put Annie here because her Q and W are decently short ranged and she has her E that equals a small Thornmail. I think she should get a rework taking away her Q's point and click (and some range) and Tibber's instantness (as this guy said), and instead granting her some movespeed to walk people's faces. IMO Galio and Fiddle should also be moved here sooner or later by taking away some range and adding closerange bonuses, but not as a priority. So, to recap, here we'd need Vlad, Swain, Ryze and Annie reworks.

#3. Snipars Ziggs Xerath Velkoz Lux These bois are all fine, they just need some polishing. Unless Lux becomes uberstrong and we all go back to being frustrated by her. In which case she'd need a change making her E more counterplay-ish.

#4. DPS Mages Aka ranged pet dudes + weird m'honix + ranged on-hit dudes + low-cd stuff Zyra TwistedFate Heimerdinger Azir Teemo Kayle Ezreal (yes Ez does it all...) Here, Zyra obviously needs some way to finally bring her to glory after being forgotten for so long, with such a theoretically interesting thematic. TF could likely use minor changes, like increasing the damage bonuses lategame for Red and Blue card, so that using them as an autoattack reset (not caring about the Card outcome) becomes a strat in some situations, or giming him a smaller bonus on each autoattack. Teemo should IMO just leave this class (he's not even sure whether he's DoT or DpS...) and be a dedicated vision tool as I suggested here, but if he's going to stay there he needs some adjustments. My info on Kayle dates of a while back, but she probably needs the revertal of the 5 AD nerf, and the revertal of the E active buff. This way, she'll have a decent laning again, but won't be as broken with Devourer anymore (thus allowing to bring back devourer to at least every 3 hits for ranged champs instead of 4).

#5. Divers All those guys that dash/blink/run fahst to you to try and comboshot you / hold you down until friends come. Except full assassins and AP tanks. Diana Elise (spider) Fiddlesticks Kennen Lissandra Nidalee (cougar) Fiddle is currently here, but he should in my opinion be better rewarded for plays outside of ult engage, as a shortranged draintank (and thus be moved into Juggmages). The direction for the group isn't really consistent as some are pretty close to assassins, others want to outlast you, others CC you for their team... Diana should maybe have less burst, more on-hit and more shield, so that she takes longer to kill you but has the way to survive that long. Maybe that would be healthier than a durable assassin with hard CC. But maybe not, not really an expert on that, just giving ideas. Liss has been talked about for a new passive, do you guys think there's a need to prioritize that? Doesn't seem like it to me, it's just a boring passive but it works no? Nida maybe needs a bigger leap range towards enemies and other measures to make her want to go melee. So maybe she'll be finally relevant without spear oneshottment shenanigans anymore. I put Kennen here because of how massive his E is, but he also has an on-hit (hence ADC Kennen). I guess he can have both playstyles, but a metagame where the ballsiest and counterplayest option is viable (diving as a squishie) is better than rightclicking IMO. I don't know Elise enough, but she's probably ok.

#6. Standard zone control mages Not really "standard", they're just each their own, but hey. Brand Chogath Malzahar Morgana Veigar Orianna Brand could use some polishing because we saw how much he can hurt out of nowhere with a small systemic change with DoTs. Cho needs his W to hit after the casting time, not before (like Darius's fix), and in exchange the Q should probably have a shorter casting time (not a shorter delay, just have him be interrupted for less). Riot seems to want to rework ye ole Malza. I guess 2 point and clicks are too much. Eh, dunno, as long as AD and AP Malz exist and bring distinct things to the table (I mean already the fact that AP Malz's Voidlings can slow with Rylai and AD Malz's can't slow with Frozen Mallet despite AD Malz being Voidling focused is a step in the wrong direction...) I'm ok with it. And can we pretend there's something to change in Morg - so that we get the VU? :D

So that's pretty much all the classes we have until now if I'm not wrong. Discussion? 3, 2, 1 GOH
