item 3512 item 3512 item 3512 Disclaimer: This item is not for every game, but when it is used, it **can **be a very powerful item. item 3512 item 3512 item 3512

Stats: (As of the beginning of season 6) 60 Armor 60 Magic Resist 125% Health Regeneration Passive: Point runner *Unique: Grants +20% bonus movement speed that build up over 2 seconds when near turrets (including fallen turrets) or Void Gates. Active: *Unique: Spawns a Void Gate at target location for 150 seconds. Every 4 seconds the gate makes a Voidspawn that travels down the nearest lane and decays over time. Voidspawn explodes when attacking structures. Voidspawn ignore champions and void targets (150 second cooldown). The first and every fourth Voidspawn gain 15% of your maximum health as damage (150 second cooldown).

  • You also gain gold from the minions your voidspawns kill
  • Something I have noticed is that whenever no enemy champions are near, the longer the voidspawn travels down the lane. When it does spot an enemy champ, the hp of the void spawn gradually decreases.

Personally, this item has worked in different ways for me. It can be used defensively or offensively. I say this because of the location that it is placed in. Additionally, this item is not too popular right now because it is a very situational item. In my opinion, some people do not know how to use the Active portion of the item effectively, therefore if it "failed" for them once, they usually don't try it again. The failures in placement only help you to know where/how to place it next time.

**Defensively ** First, the stats on the item are good if you would like to be slightly more tanky (but I will talk more about it's defensive stats later). The location of a defensive placement is a placement near or under a tower (typically behind and off to the side). This placement "pushes" the lane so the enemy team's minion wave is farther from your turret, which can allow your team to prepare to defend against an offensive push. It can also help save a tower from a medium-ish wave of minions. Please note: This item only aids in the defense of turrets by killing the enemy's minions.

This item can also be used as a "ward" (depending on the placement) - You can teleport to it too

**Offensively ** This item Is an AMAZING lane pusher if you want to take down a tower. Typically I will place the portal in various places depending on the towers that are still up. When the voidspawns reach the enemy's tower, they explode and deal quite a large amount of damage to the structure. If the enemy team neglects your portal, their tower is potentially destroyed or left with low hp. Locations of placement:

  1. If my team needs to take down a tower and both tier 1 towers are up, then I will typically place the portal near or under my tower.
  2. Enemy bot/top lane - Depending on how the game plays out I like to place a portal in one of the bushes near the enemy tower. Try bush is a good spot (depending on which side you are playing on), any of the bushes near their tower.
  3. Please do not put the portal in the river or jungle, it does not do well there... but if you want to use it as a ward, that could be a somewhat acceptable place... or a "Troll" placement.

**Why should you should buy **item 3512 Why should someone buy this item? Well, it is versatile in that it can be placed to help defend a tower/base or it can be used to destroy towers. The speed boost can be nice for a slow tank such as Alistar or Braum . If the other team has a pretty even split between AP and AD champs (who are fed), this item will give a decent amount of Armor and Magic Resist or If you need better Health regen. Also, it grants you the gold of killed minions, who doesn't like free money$$$ ?
**When should you should buy **item 3512 When should this item be built? For those who are tanks but not a support, I recommend this to be maybe a 3rd or 4th item. ¿Maybe a 2nd item for champs such as Rammus or Shen top? This item is situational, so I would say to wait until mid game before buying one. I have seen one person rush this item against a Riven top, and destroyed her tower before 10 minutes (which can be good or bad because it can signal the end of you laning phase). As a support, I typically build this as my 3rd, 4th, or 5th item depending on how the game is playing out. This item works best with tanks/tanky supports. This is because the bonus damage of the 4th "empowered" voidspawn is based off of your Armor and Magic Resist (50% of each individually). I typically buy this item (as a support) when my team is either far ahead and split pushing or if we are behind and need to defend our towers. Despite the fact that this item works best with tanks, this item can still work well with other champions such as a Morgana , Janna , Nami , or Sona support. I especially love using this item with Janna because it adds a ton of extra movement speed (when she is near turrets) and she can easily place a portal down in any lane, then leave. With this point being said, this may be a possible 2nd or 3rd item for a Quinn top... it makes her tanky and speedy... plus and she could easily push a lane without being there (if she goes somewhere to gank)... If anyone tries this item on a Quinn top, I would love to hear the results.

**Items that pair well with **item 3512 - Typically only for supports or for champs that use sightstones (some junglers) item 3060 item 2045 item 3069

  • The Banner of Command allows a hard push in one lane, or helps push out multiple lanes
  • The Ruby sight stone decreases the cooldown on the Actives of items by 10% (the cooldown is decreased by 15 seconds)
  • The Talisman of Ascension will give you an extra boost with it's active therefore you will have a ton of movement speed

**Alternatives to **item 3512
item 3060 item 3056

  • If you do not want or need the Zz'Rot Portal, then the Banner of Command is a great substitute if you want to push a lane in an offensive or defensive way.
  • The Ohmwrecker can be used offensively for tower dives (I don't usually pick up this item, but it can be an alternative if you are still looking for the movement speed

Zzrot is an interesting item.

The main problem is that it doesn't actually fit anywhere. You don't plan to buy the item against a specific champion or on reactionary terms. It does fulfill a specifc role though. The primary use of it is to splitpush without actually requiring to send someone from your team. This forces the enemy team to send someone to deal with the portal.

The item is good on champions who scale with levels, more than items. Forerunners that come to mind are Garen, and Heimerdinger. Both champions are incredibly strong without any actual AP / AD. The biggest thing people don't notice, is the range on the portal. The voidlings that spawn are semi-global in their range. You can place a portal near the river entrence to a lane, and the voidlings will be able to attack the 2nd teir tower.

I'd also suggest avoiding the item on a support. Supports have subpar gold income to start with, and 2800 is hard to fit in. It also doesn't do as much for a team, as say a Banner of Command, or a Zeke's Herald.

The problem with this item is it just doesn't properly fit anywhere another item wouldn't do much better in...

How do you fix that without making it op or nerfing everything else?

I really want to like the portal. It's active is a neat idea, and it can be really strong both offensively and defensively.

But the item has one main problem: those stats are unappealing. Where the blue hell are you supposed fit this item into your build? It's got both resists, but so does item 3026, and no one is buying that for the stats. Generally you want to spend gold only on the resist that stops the opponent opposite you in lane. You wouldn't build armor against a Ryze, since that armor would be a lot of wasted gold. So this item's stats make it subpar for the laning phase right off the bat.

However, health regen is a stat that's most useful for the laning phase. Point runner is a great ability for getting back to lane quickly, so it sees the most benefit during laning as well. So now you have gold that's being used inefficiently no matter what phase of the game it's in since half the stats are good early on and half are good mid/late. It's a deeply confused item.

Not having mana or CDR also holds the item back, since those are (non-tanky) stats tanks just love; solo lane or support.

So what could you do to make the item better?

  1. First of all, you change the resists to HP. HP is useful against any type of damage, and it actually helps the active since every 4th voidling scales with your HP. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  2. Point runner is alright, but as we've seen recently with item 3046, situational MS boosts aren't really all that desirable. You get rid of that and replace it with a plain +X% boost. Simple, yet effective.
  3. The health regen isn't as useful as it could be, so lets replace it with either mana or 10% CDR.

So now you have an item that looks like this:

+Y Health +10% Cooldown Reduction OR +Z Mana +X% Movement Speed Unique: Spawns a Void Gate at target location for 150 seconds.

The extra HP is attractive to tanks and bruisers no matter who their opponents are, and the extra MS gives it a item 3742 type of feel without being too similar (they would also work well together instead of competing for an either/or situation on a lot of champs). If we give it mana, tanky champs may want to rush the item to solve early mana issues. This also lets us add item 3010 to the recipe, and that's a great item early on that people will rush (you could also keep the passive, it you really miss that HP regen). If we give it CDR, champions may pick it up mid/late game to round out the 40%. item 3067 would probably be added to the combine list, and it's not a painful item item to build if a little underwhelming.

I buy it first item sometimes, in low elo people dont even know what a zzrot is i swear. people dont realize this game is about objectives. and zzrot is the perfect lane control tool to either push towers or distract people while you take dragon or something. also its an extra ward so you can have 5 of them (on supports)
