On top of the huge damage meta myself and others have been ranting about, I've realized something. Just how many items are there that assist hunting down and destroying enemy champions, as opposed to those meant to assist you or teammates in staying alive? Tons of items that deal area damage, slow, encourage you to attack by granting speed when you hit a champion... So on and so forth.
So not only does Riot not want is to be able to soak damage, they don't want us to evade it either. If I outplay Tryndamere by dashing around through his E until it lifts, I should be rewarded with a chance to escape. Instead, he slows me by 40% per hit with basic attacks and I have no feasible chance of getting away. (Nor do I have a chance of killing him, thanks to ult + INSANE LIFESTEAL combo.) If I manage to dodge Yasuo's lethal Q at such an angle that I have him outpositioned and can easily escape to my nearby teammates, I should be rewarded by, you know, escaping to my teammates. Instead I die to Shiv + Stormrazor.
The game has gotten even more stupid than I'd first realized. This may be the first time in a long while that I uninstall before tournament seasons hit... It might be time to make it permanent.
