I know what you mean. Apparently as Riot stated in the Ranked 2019 posts, they're going to be fixing the placement system, because they realize there is a issue with it. Due to the fact that a lot of new players get placed between B5 and S2. There is a large skill difference in someone who has climbed to high Silver, like yourself, and those who are placed there. I do know your pain tho. I got placed B3 this year, took 150 games to get to S5. And then 435ish games to get to S1. As soon as I got to S1 though. I went from 0LP straight to G5 with like 3 losses in between. Rank system shouldnt start players in Silver. They need to start in bronze. Period.

Elo systems are net zero. The average of all players is the same as the starting point. Even if you make that change, the system will pull the average to the starting point. Make bronze 5 the starting point for MMR and everyone will get pulled down until the average player is bronze 5....meaning 50% of all ranked players will be bronze 5.

You could keep the MMR at the average and start new players at bronze 5 zero LP. (I would have no problem with this), but you have to know that it wont change the matchmaking. The only difference would be that instead of a "veteran" silver player getting matched with a new player, he would get matched with a bronze 5 new plauer.
