Why are Diamond/Plats showing up in my normals against bronze/silver?

Silver 3 ADC here. While I'm taking a break from ranked for a while to wait out whatever this meta is currently, I've been playing a lot of normals. My last handful of matchups:

My bot lane: S3/G3 Their bot lane: P5/P2 My bot lane: S3/unranked Their bot lane: G2/D5 My bot lane: S3/B2 Their bot lane: G5/G2 (Their team also had a diamond 5 top laner)

So here's my question: Why the mismatched? And before you start flaming me, yes I know it's normals, and yes, I know you get better by playing against better people. My response: It's still tilting, and middle school level baseball players don't face college/minor league/major league level pitching in order to "get better"

Has Riot recently changed matchmaking?

Because it's normals. There is a separate mmr for normals and for ranked.

because people from higher elos always make friends with low elo people (who'm would most likely have their normal mmr at the same level as their ranked) and queue with them and it balances out (but very unfairly for their opponent)
