I just played a game against Udyr, Kog'Maw, Tankali, Garen, and Braum

I thought the trade off for building tanky was supposed to be that you don't do much damage? Braum luckily is not like the others I just mentioned him since he was in the game and Kog'Maw is not ok, but at least he's not tanky. I don't know what to do as a poor immobile mage that has to build a bunch of ap items to deal damage meanwhile I'm being beset by champions that jump on me, don't let go, do lots of damage, and don't die.

Udyr: Kite Kog'maw: blow him up Akali: Pink ward, CC and blow her up. Garen: Peel for your ADC, let him slowly kill him Braum: you said you don't have a problem here.

As a mage? Early void staff, if there's another AP on your team Abyssal Sceptre as well. Rylai's may help with the kiting.

I think the overall problem you're having is that tanks are strong and are a key part of your team. You don't need multiple sources of high damage, merely one high consistent physical damage dealer (ADC) and some source of magic damage (does not need to be a dedicated APC though) is sufficient damage, and the remainder of your team being committed to crowd control and a bulky front line is much more valuable in close fights than additional damage.

The advantage you have against a team like this should be a safer lane phase and the ability to get ahead early and snowball.

Caveat: Admittedly not sure how strong tank-akali is. It's possible she does too much damage for building full tank, eventually she'll be nerfed then.

Do you guys really believe mages are weak rofl?

ValyrianBlade has not tried kiting Udyr in the last few months. The dude can literally outrun Braum and Ezreal through exhaust.

I don't think mages are weak, I was just making a point that as a mage I have to build AP items to deal damage and that leaves me squishy (which is a normal tradeoff). I just feel that several champions can build mostly or full tank and still do large amounts of damage. I'm not saying any of these champions are OP as I don't think I'm qualified to make such judgments, but I think a champion building mostly tank shouldn't do much damage and therefore should have other things to offer (CC/Utility).

Not in LoL.

In LoL, champions can rely on defense, mobility, and/or range to survive long enough to do there job. As such: Darius differs from Ziggs largely in that Darius relies on tankyness to survive long enough to kill things where Ziggs relies on range. Ziggs doesn't get a solid boost in range and damage over Darius.

Defense, Defense+mobility, mobility, Mobility+range, and range is largely the difference between juggernauts, fighters, assassins, marksman, and mages. Damage is pretty similar, or at least the kill-pressure, between all those champion archetypes.
