Dynamic Que Really is Bad...

Since the community seems to be so fired up about Dynamic que, I thought I would add some thoughts.

Thoughts:

Thought 1: Many of the complaints I see are based on que times. I do believe this is because the support role is not valued by the community as a whole. The general mentality I see in the community that hates Dynamic Que is "Ranked is really try-hard, so I need to carry every game." As a player who has played a lot of Brand support, I do enjoy doing the most damage in the game from the support role. However, when I play Tahm and save my ADC who immediately jumps out and runs at the enemy bot lane, I cannot have a big impact on the game. The old champ select forced someone into the support role, but not many, certainly the vast majority of solo players, do not want to play support. I like new champ (different than dynamic que) select and I think it solved many problems of the old system, but when most of the community does not want to play support, how do you lower que times? This is an interesting dynamic (pun intended). How do you make the support role feel more rewarding? Here is where Riot really has to make some changes and not easy changes. Riot cannot just give supports more money, or more midlane/toplane/jungle champions will migrate to bot lane and push out the "support designed" champs. I have no solution for this problem, but it is a thought. Another solution is that after 2 min, support or fill is added to you chosen lane assignments and you are forced to play a position you didn't prioritize. This doesn't entirely solve the problem, but at least you are told where you are going. Much better than being put into a group of 5 and one person says "Mid or feed."

Thought 2: Other complaints are aimed at premades. I think Riot said it best, "Teamwork is OP." This is a 5v5 game. Teamwork is always good. The problem I have with complaining about premades is the basis for some of the "communities" (quotes intended) complaints. Complaint 1: The premade doesn't communicate with me and plays without me. This is going to come down to how well you a player can adapt and understand map movements of their team mates without hearing communication. If there are going to be premades in Dynamic Que, somebody is always going to complain about "the premade never communicates." IMHO, grow as a player, watch the minimap more, and use pings to communicate with your premade. Complaint 2: "I got a lead and then was camped for 15 minutes so I couldn't snowball the game." This is where the fact that this is a 5v5 game comes into play. It is hard to make a 5v5 game mode that fully shows off individual skill. The game is inherently team based. Solo skill helps, but "Team Work is OP." Here I believe the game has taken a step forward to allow more coordinated games at lower skill levels. This takes some adjusting to get used to. If someone gets a lead, and the other team shuts said player down and wins the game because of it, this is good teamwork. That should be reworded in this game. The problem I have with that complaint is it sounds like a lot of players want more of a 1v1 style in a 5v5 game. This cannot happen by the nature of the 5v5 game. If you get camped, ward up and watch the minimap or make plays elsewhere with tp's or roams. Here I think Dynamic Que really takes league to a much more competitive environment. If there is more teamwork present in the game, ala premades, then the game as a whole is more competitive period. Premades increase teamwork vs a 5 solo players. They may not increase the teamwork between people in the premade and not in the premade, but teamwork as a whole increases. Here I praise dynamic que quite heavily.

Thought 3: Solo players prefer playing with other solo players. Based on what I have heard from Riot, the idea behind Dynamic que is that solo players should be paired with solo players over 90% of the time. With the complaints I've seen, this doesn't seem to be happening, unless Riot has some data they are not sharing. Simply put, Riot needs to "fine tune" the algorithm that places people in que. There are 7 million people who play this game every day. Certainly they can at least come close to 90% with a decent algorithm.

Final Thought: I am overall really happy with Dynamic Que. That in combination with the new champ select really solved all the major problems I had with league. Riot, you have a fan in me. There are some minor things you could tweak, but overall, I think you do a semi decent job at creating a game I really enjoy playing.

TL;DR - I love riot and you just read a post praising Dynamic Que :)

Long Live Dynamic Que!!!!!
