The problem with LoL
I have recently been noticing a problem with the match making system. In particular it makes no sense. I have been noticing a continual problem of being one gold paired with all silvers and we are facing off against all golds and one silver who happens to be in promo. I have never been demoted before but I just was. You see I have a problem with this. There is no algorithm that realizes you are on a terrible team. When doing well and still losing you shouldn't be penalized. It's no wonder League of legends is considered to be the most toxic multiplayer game ever created. When looking at the other Moba format games the player satisfaction levels are much higher when compared to that of LoL ratings. To be fair they aren't all that high. However LoL has an insanely low player satisfaction score. Studies have shown that when implementing VOIP and an algorithm that doesn't punish players for bad teammates, player satisfaction levels greatly increase. In fact, when players know that they won't be punished for failing to carry and can hear a human voice behind a champion, toxic attitudes disappear. It helps the experience so much that players actually will calm a disgruntled teammate immediately. So why has Riot refused to do nothing when it comes to player experience?
I looked into this further and realized the match making algorithm has never been touched since the ranked format has been implemented. The algorithm itself is extremely simple and you guessed it, if you win you get points and lose, lose points. Riot talked about changing it, but when the Chinese company Tencent bought the majority of Riot, the marketing and selling of champions and skins became the focus of the game. This is why Teemo has 2,000 skins. Now Riot is trying to put professional players on par with professional athletes. An idea that will not work. The problem is professional LoL players are simply not marketable figures. They are hard to watch give interviews and the average human being cannot relate to the introverted pro. There is also the player name dilemma that we will not even delve into.
So Riot, please work on the game that the average player spends money one. You know, us common fellows that spent around $1.1 billion on. We don't care about an autistic pro player who can't even speak English. We care about a fun game experience. That is something you have seemed to lost focus of three years ago.
So fix the fucking problem please. It isn't difficult.
