Important PSA: "The new client's unlikely to ever get it's own Item Set Creator" Says Riot

Worthless Tripod·11/12/2016, 6:57:00 AM·42 votes·1,570 views

I'm spreading the word because the rioter post only has 4 comments and 271 views. I only just discovered the Client Discussion Sub Board, and realized that the Rioter's who should be informed don't seem to be getting the message.

A Direct Quote from Riot a huevo

TL;DR Item sets is not something we'll be working on at the moment, IF EVER.

Emphasis mine.

I won't sit quietly as they slowly strangle our ability to create and edit nice and neat custom item sets. This absolutely should not be allowed to happen. They tried to satisfy and quiet our complaints by leaving us a hopeful comment over On The Petition, and it worked. Now they are hiding they're true agenda by posting in the lesser used forums. We need to create more awareness and visibility or this story will end in tragedy! Go and upvote the petition if you haven't already. Start posting in and watching the Client Discussion boards for news.

Yes, I've been complaining about that for some weeks too.

Apparently, third party applications is acceptable when it comes to this. Usually, 3rd party programs that affect gamefiles (which is what it does, due to it going into the game-folders and replacing the item-recommendation files for each and every champion), or 3rd party programs that in any way affect ingame to give you an edge is a permabannable offence.

However, it appears that alot of Riot employees themselves havent used the old clients Item-sets generator, and thus have no idea how useful they are - but there's been a real good amount of Riot employees that used things like "Championify", which gives you Item-sets for each champion along with information about what items are most frequently bought in what order, and what items bought that gives the highest winrate.

Suddenly, 3rd party programs are completely fine. As long as it's about the things Riot employees themselves uses, that is.

This is just ONE of the admissions that they have never used the ItemSet Generator themselves.

That Rioter knows nothing about why "nobody" uses item sets tbh.

I mean, who the hell would see something so hard to use, and shoved at a tiny little corner? [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Though on a semi unrelated note they should at least do a mass revision on item sets, because a lot of them are nearly TWO years behind in meta. Had to make my own item set because the recommended list for Lulu support is straight up garbage.

But I am useless without my custom Itemsets. I have Itemsets for every class with all the Items I might need. And somehow I have to keep them updated. I would take forever until I find the items I need to buy in every Situation because every Game is different.

Pls make an Itemset-editor RITO

I never used it, but I still liked it :/ We should at least have an item glossary in the client.

Thank you for posting this. The riot thread slipped right by me.
Riot wtf. That's politics, and I've had enough of politics lately. If Riot is going to play sneaky games like that, I'm disappointed.

"but you can still use championify" I'm not a meta sheep. I don't give a single shit about what the koreans are building. I build item sets from scratch, and I know exactly what's best for my playstyle. If I don't have total control over a set, it doesn't count.

Well maybe it'd be used more often if it didn't look so half assed.

I like how it shows that Riot is full of shit.

"We do not take responsibility for your usage of third party applications." Then: "Use third-party application to modify your Item Sets."

This absolutely should not be allowed to happen

Dude wat? Look at all the shit they are giving us: new client (a few years too late), replay mode (also a few years too late), and even sandbox mode (I'm seeing a trend of lateness here...) and you are bitching about a feature that honestly does not impact gameplay at all and is only used by ~1% of the playerbase. That post also said you'll be able to fiddle with your precious item sets via third party tools and the old client, so you are whining about minor inconvenience. Instead of fighting for this, how about turning your attention to two of the most egregious changes since DQ:

  1. plants
  2. removal of normal draft

Both of these things majorly impact actual gameplay in a majorly negative way.
