Weird Lagging

Instead of the regular lag, skipping a second or so at a time, it was super choppy as if it were skipping every other frame. This has occurred in 3 separate games. I had nothing up in the background and I have a good computer that would otherwise not lag. For this reason I suspect the flaw lies in the client rather than the hardware.
