Infinite Champions?

Can we just talk about what Riot plans to do as a viable company? I think it's pretty clear Riot wants to continue to make new champions since that seems to be the only way new revenue can be garnered. There's an issue with this OBVIOUSLY. From a logistics point of view, more champs= more code. More code= more fixes. Therein lies the infinite loop of death. As more champions are introduced, every single patch will most likely cause problems for many champions.

I personally think that Riot needs to set a ceiling for how many total champions they want in the game. And once they do that, they must figure out how else they will earn more money if they aren't making new champions.

*From a player's perspective, Wtf is the point of bans at all when there are so many champions? This is especially an issue in the professional scene. There are so many available champions that someone's champion pool is unlikely to be controlled since there are so many options. Why not just remove bans all together?

In the past, Op champions were banned, but this opened up the game for secondary op champions which are , thankfully, atleast manageable. CURRRENTLY there are so many champions that 3 bans are no longer relevant.

I think you are missing the purpose of bans. They are supposed to be used strategically. So if your in a game and you talk to your team and come up with a specific strat you can ban champions that would hinder those efforts. I know that nobody actually does this but that is what it should be used for.

Also, i think that although there are a lot of champions they still have a lot of different play styles. I think when it gets to the point where a champion comes out and we say "Hey, this new champion is almost exactly like "insert champion"!" That will be the time to look into a cap. For now I think it is fine. Plus, we don't know that they have no plan to stop making champs at some point. Perhaps at some point they will remove some of the out dated or lesser played champs. Maybe they will take a period of time and just fix old champions for awhile and not make any newer ones. Who knows how long this game will even remain popular? Everything dies at some point.

Riot will also rework existing champions that have lost purpose in the current state of the game (Sion, Poppy, Taric, Yorick) which means that some code and some OPness can get inherently fixed.
