HI everyone i am actually a gold 5 adc have over 250k on jhin i guess i spammed this champ cause i just love that jhin^^. i had 60% winrate on my 1st 100 games then went to 50% winrate after his ult got nerfed and im actually losing a lot

, i tought at 1st that my opponnent were just better than me but i recently discovered that i lose a lot against people that are playing meta champs , so i tried to play meta champs and i win more games with them but i feel like i m FORCED to play meta if i want to win even if i want to play jhin .

i know its seems logic to win more with meta but there is a big gap between champs , so i wanna know what is your opinion about that should i keep playing champs that i enjoy playing with and try to increase my winrate or just " be flexible " and get used to the meta ?

                                              ******* i accept all advices ! :) ********

Okay, here's my advice. Don't learn a champ. Learn a playstyle, maybe two. Then learn a few champs. I mostly play either tank supports or enchanter supports. So I learned that playstyle very well. Now I can play champions like say Lulu, and when the meta shifts, I'll still be able to apply my ability to use enchanters to play the next meta support. There are certain champs where if you put enough time into one-tricking with them you can climb really well. Hypercarries. Any Hypercarry one trick who has actually learned their champ incredibly well will climb without needing to know several champs. Otherwise, you're better off just learning a particular way to play that you like.

Precisely why the game is becoming dull, same set of champs stomp every game.

Thank you all for those quick responses , according to your comments , i conclude that :

there is not only 1 way to do things , that i can climb playing meta or not : with meta it will be quicker but less enjoyable, and with champs that i like ,it will be harder but more funny .

in either way the bigger my knowledge is, the best it is ,

right :) ?

A better strategy is to familiarize yourself with the Meta champions and learn their weaknesses and strengths. That way, you can play Jhin all you want, as long as you play accordingly and different per champion. You might want to play more passive against one Champ, or maybe go super aggro on another. Knowing what you're playing against is just as important as knowing your own champion.

I'm fairly confident in my AP Bard picks mid, because I know other champions stuff. Rush boots against Brand, stay near walls for Zed, play passive early game, whiddling down your opponent with Q stuns, so I can push past into late game doing great damage.

Yes. Play meta. That way, you get to play new adc. Learn to love them. Then drop them like bricks and move on to the next flavor of the week.

play meta or lose ?

I was about to write its BS mainly at low elo... But i read ur post and u are adc main. And this role isn't like other even at low elo, and mainly with Jhin.

Jhin :

  • is garbage atm
  • is weak against Tank (in all meta)

Even l8te game adc are better atm Vayne Jinx Twitch Sivir thanks to item 3153 item 3031

Jhin late build isn't so strong, and his early build is very weak (lethality).

I'm silver trash, but I've seen a lot of one tricks climb just fine. In your case, I think it's less just that Jhin is out of meta, and more that he's actively bad right now.

Climbing with a B tier champ is perfectly doable, but there comes a point where you're actively shooting yourself in the foot. In that case, it helps to have a fallback champion or two.

The definition of "meta champs" is quite literally:

The champs that are currently the best/most viable in the game (or something to that extent)

Is it really that surprising that the most viable champions (aka, the most successful) at X time also win the most compared to non-meta champions? You wouldn't be calling them "meta champions" if they didn't win more often, as that's the point of being a meta champion...

In the big picture though: play the champs you enjoy. If you want to play a non-meta champion like Heimerdonger, go ahead. When it comes down to it, you are more likely to climb by getting really good with a champion you love rather than playing a collection of "better" champions that you wont put as much effort into learning.

You should probably play meta in a broad sense, but you don't need to play flavour of the month.

By which I mean, play a marksman in bot lane, and someone people will generally agree is a support in support role, and so on. So Jhin bot as the adc is fine, jhin bot as the support is not fine.

That there exist one tricks for pretty much every champion who are diamond+ shows you're not 'forced' to play whatever the 'strongest' meta picks are in order to climb. Until you get to the very highest levels of play, theres pretty much always going to be room to simply be the better player and outplay your opponents independent of your champion choice, so you can focus on getting really good at jhin (or whoever else you like), and you'll be able to climb to diamond at least as long as you put in the time/effort to really focus on improving yourself.
