Is Cassiopeia a good pick up for Solo Q?

As the title states.

And is she fun in general? She really looks fun, but I don't wanna waste my IP on a champion that I won't like. I prefer assassins (100-0, ya know, the usual).

She's the closest you can get to an ADC mage.

She can get to 1200+ AP like it's nothing, and her twin fang on poisoned targets is pretty much an overpowered basic attack.

The rework turned her somewhat outdated kit into an inherently broken kit. At least Nasus has to farm up and suffer an excruciatingly painful early/mid game before he becomes an unstoppable monster. Cassiopeia is only slightly weaker than the average mage in the early stages of the game, and so long as you land the occasional Q, you will eventually outscale the absolute f*ck out of everyone on the enemy team and mash your E to do retarded amounts of damage.

But that is what people are complaining about the most. Before, the posion mage would patiently whittle down and weaken her opponents before going in for the kill, much like an actual snake. Now she's a trigger-happy sociopath firing both barrels at all times who doesn't stop until her enemy is a pool of acid.

I haven't actually played Cass, these are simply opinions from long time Cass players. After her rework she was worthless because she never reached the final part of her passive. Now she's overpowered because she can reach the final part of her passive too quickly, it's a broken kit that will likely never see true balance which is why I personally am not purchasing her because I don't want to spend my IP on a champ that is liable to get nerfed to hell in a couple of patches.

If your idea of fun is sitting around doing very little for 20 minutes, then going around mashing E until you end the game 30/5, then Cass might be the champ for you, but apparently it's not fun for most other players.

She's one of those champs you should wait until free week to try. She is good IMO but you may find her kit very boring and regret it especially if you like champs that can strut around without having to plan ahead strategically for a fight knowing they can 100-0 the enemy or at least come close without much risk.

In terms of power level, she's quite strong in both top and mid lanes. That's a relatively rare property.

Whether she's fun or not after her rework is super controversial. Her playstyle is very much about sticking in lane and farming up to being huge later. You can sometimes make solo kills on her, but roaming isn't really a thing and you are generally just hoping to get to the teamfight phase.

If you play Ryze, she is pretty similar to that. Less tanky, more damagey, lots of button mashing.

Depends on if you're planning on climbing the ranked ladder or not. In normals? Yeah, you can get by just fine with cass. In a ranked game you'll simply be trounced by champs with outstanding mobility and gank potential. Ahri Katarina Leblanc Talon

I used her to get to Gold 5 and gain Victorious Morgana when she was crap-tier, that is after her rework and before her recent buffs. After the rework everyone said she had become a godlike cancer monster, so I began to main her after having played her from time to time pre-rework (the common opinion on her changed swiftly, but I kept playing her 'cause I got good results at my elo xD). I carried some games in Silver and won most of my lanes. After the buffs she's become even stronger and I can only rejoice from that (except, perhaps, for the fact that she's gotten some popularity that might bring her beneath the nerf-hammer). She has a huge power spike lvl. 2 that can grant you FB against unsuspicious players, great DPS and teamfight potential, powerful late-game scaling. Her kiting is better than Ashe's and, unlike her, she can stun an entire team (although she must be near it). I call her "the skillshot-reliant, magic-damage-based, 2.00 permanent AS, 700 ranged adc" u_u

Anyhow, pro's use her, so why shouldn't you, isn't that the logic? -_^
