New Sion

Hello, this is actually the first time I've used this forum and it's just for this purpose. I just tried out the new Sion and I feel like Riot has taken away or neutered the stuff that people actually liked about him and gave him a bunch of new clunky devices that seem like they'll be too easy for opponents to avoid. I know it's still really early, and I'll keep working on the new one, but I actually liked the old one a lot. Maybe he needed some tweeking, but now he's completely different. Hopefully he's better than my first impressions are telling me. Just wondering what other people are thinking so far - Agree? Think he's better now?

Watching Sion so far has seemed like watching a replay of the Mountain vs. the Viper. Seems powerful with a lot of brute strength but also isn't agile and can be taken advantage of by ranged or superior duelists. Which is likely going to be a permanent weakness considering how badly he should beat a lot of melee champions.

Regardless, he does seem like a better designed, more interesting, more consistently themed champion than the old Sion. Though if we are being honest if the bar that the old Sion set was any lower, it would be impossible to get under it.

He's definitely cooler and I like the shield scaling with health as well as AP. However, His Q is horrible and his passive is too easy to negate with and kind of slow/stun.

Am i the only one that enjoys building e first on him and launched minions at my enemies? i can see some blitz/sion synergy (move minions to line up the hook) if played properly. Not sure if i like the new sion though

No, you're right. They're so obsessed with counterplay that new Sion actually has more counterplay than play.

I love new Sion, but he isn't viable as he currently is. He needs buffs or quality of life changes. Maybe both. I have actually gone legendary once, and I have been MVP with multiple kill streaks in several games, but it was only because the enemies let me. He isn't strong.

I play him as a jungle tank, which he wasn't intended to be. He is an awful top laner in his current state, too many bad match-ups and he cannot scale well enough to out-scale champs like Riven even if he WINS the lane.

I use his ult well and it ROCKS. Only part of his kit I wouldn't change.

Old Sion was probably the worst designed champion in league. The new one has some flaws that need to be worked out, but at least you have to press buttons to play him.

From my experience with him, the only thing he has right now is a laning phase. Sending minions in the other guy's face is pretty fun I think, and his passive makes the opponent not want to dive (or die trying).

Once laning is over though you lose the game. Wanna initiate? Ult is easy to avoid or their tank will take the blow and they'll ignore you cause you do no damage. Wanna peel for your carries? They'll die before you can finish charging up the knock up on your Q. Wanna poke before the fight start? Too bad, there's no minions staying alive long enough for you to send them to the other team.

His whole kit seems to be made for laning, so of course he's not viable until they buff him up a bit, or change how some of his skills work.
