Abuse case for getting LP with the new system

This is a bit complex and situational, but is a symptom of deeper problems that the new system bring.

Ok, so you have position ranks now. And when you que you will be matched based on the rank of the position you que at. And you win and lose LP based on the skill of the people you play against, as well as the skill of your team. Sounds right?

Well what if you change your lane in game? HA! Riot says. Well then we'll just use an algorithm to figure out that you lane swapped, and you'll get LP for that lane instead! Problem solved.

But...all I did was change lane, I did not change the players that I was matched with. I can use this to my advantage. See, the LP gains and loses are based on where I decided to go in the laneing phase, but that's only one part of the game. So let's say I have a really high main rank, but my off lane ranks are lower. I want to improve my other position ranks, and can hold my own against opponents that are my main rank even on my off position(likely because my off position's rank to lower than it should be). If I que for my main rank, then lane swap, I have now effectively made this game "harder", but also made it so I'll win more LP and lose less.

Except that's the the whole story, because what if I'm a mid main, but notice that they pick a really easy lane for me top lane? Well shit I want to jump on the opportunity to have a high value top lane game(I'll game more LP and lose less, even though because of the lane it's not a harder game).

The point of this post is that to say I plan to do this(I don't give a shit about my off main ranks personally, THAT'S a different problem), it's to show one of the many problems that position ranks create. This is the simple case, what if you get a duo to help you out? I don't know how it knows what position it thinks you played(which is a problem in it's self), but if I did enough testing to figure it out I likely could game that system. Like how long do I really need to physically be in my off lane for it to count for that positions rank? Is it just pre-6? Well shit man I could cheese, duo top or something for the pre-6 so that it's a top lane game rather than another lane. The list goes on and on of ways I am incentivies to take strange actions, and most fundamentally my actions are NOT being motivated to make the best choices to win the game. Winning the game in the old system was the only thing that mattered. But now it's not. It's not just about winning the game, it's about how you won that game(or how you lost it).

Riot, I'll be very impressed if you can manage to cleanly solve these problems.

Edit : Lol, only a few days in and Reddit has already cooked up a number of ways to abuse this system. While it's not organized, if you shift through this post I count at least 3 different ways to abuse the system.

You do realize that you could laneswap before position based mmr before right? You could have pull all sorts of janky stuff and the system had zero recourse. At least now, the game will account for some of the issues instead for none of them.

The new system wasn’t meant to solve all abuse cases, just make some ones better. Compared to last season, the new system is at least a strict upgrade.

Some people got questioneers at the end of the game asking if they were playing ____ role, and if they weren't to submit a bug report. I believe Riot has lane swapping detection already in place and has been testing it for some time now. So that would work out essentially the same as pre-game trade.

I mean you can try it, but I'm guessing at the end of the game it's gonna put you as the other lane.
