Champ Mastery??
Does the champion level make them stronger? or is it just to show off the banner? I haven't played in awhile

It's nothing but a badge. All it does is show that you're experienced with the champion; there are no statistical advantages attached.

Eh that's kind of lame. So someone can just get a F every time and grind out a badge that makes them look experienced? Or do certain grades not give experience?
If you actually managed to get to champ mastery 5 with a champion and not learn how to play them well, that shows an amazing lack of desire to learn. The number of games required to get to champ mastery 5 is large enough to where you should develop a good deal of mechanical skill even if you're not amongst the best with that champion.
