Promotions

Any chance someone can explain to me why when you lose a promotions game due to AFK/DC's it should count against you? I will nevr be plat or gold, but silver is a possibility. Hence I won't be carrying games hardcore. I just can't. But why should I and others be punished because someone ragequits or gets disconnected? And why can't I be matched up with people of like mind regarding surrendering. I rarely surrender, because I am willing to try everything to win. There should be a way to remedy these. It makes the climb a lot more difficult. And it doesn't have to be. I'm competitive, but also know I have limitations. I'm not looking to be pro next year or even Gold III, just have an actual fair shot at getting maybe Silver 5. The way ELO and all is handled does not feel fair nor rewarding.
