It is probably one of the most appealing items and helps things like Melee champs that have to fight ranged laners with no easy counterplay, and opens up more diverse type of playstyle in bot lane.
Maybe it can get tweaked a bit, but I feel like this item could possibly change things in the Support meta.
Seems like a neat concept. A Support item designed to give you gold as you soak up damage.
I am concerned though, if it leads up to un interesting game play. Their is a deterrent for destroying the shield, cause it would give the enemy team gold. And if the enemy can easily do that, taking the item wouldn't be worth your time.
So with that in mind, the only way to reliably take aggro from the enemy is to attack them, drawing fire from the minions, (or even a turret.)
There's a lot of unknowns, and probably should have some careful consideration before introducing it permanently into summoners rift.
