Poor leveling rewards

Having hit level 34 now, all 4 times I've leveled I have received a champion capsule. Disenchanting all the champions i've earned in my capsule has given me a grand total of 2200 blue essence. So in about 42 games I've received 2200 blue essence. Either I am extremely unlucky or this whole blue essence earning system needs to be rethought. Furthermore my friend has recently started this game, and every time he levels he gets much better rewards than I do. Is anyone else experiencing this discrepancy?

I am a level 39. In 9 chests, I have gotten maybe 3 champions I didn't already own. To put that into perspective, I do not have 35 champions of the champions. Also, of the champions I have received, only 2 of them costed more than 3150 be, and none of them were 6300 be champions.
