Solo Q vs Flex Q

Is anyone finding it pretty pointless to have both queues? seems most people are playing flexed queue now, including solo players and duo players. A troubling issue though at the moment is that diamond players get paired with silver and gold players. I think one of the 2 queues need to be ditched
