How i think the AP items update missed the point and might not affect anything

There'ss alot of debated reasons as to what causes the power gap between AP and AD champions. Now I won't claim to be a challenger player who knows everything but I main mid and after maining a Fizz for a long time I have gotten some really good insight as to where I think the issue is. Off tank and Penetration stats.

The fact is AD champions have tons of items that give them pen while also giving them utlity and/or defensive stats all in a cheap package. (looking at Maw here)As it stands Mages only have 1 item that can keep them safe from AD which is Hour glass but at the same time AD champions can stack absurd amounts of flat pen early on without going out of the viable build path so they retain everything else they'd want while also getting defensive stats + Anti defensive stats all in a well rounded and cheap build.

For now Abyssal scepter is a more efficient Pen item than the actual pen items because it's cheap, adds some off tank for anti magic, and most importantly it still fits within a viable build path that doesn't deduct any sort of power from your build. However that's the only good item that AP's currently have and it's getting heavily nerfed so the MR reduction Aura nerf will make it a no longer viable anti MR pick to counter the really great Hexdrinker/Maw pick that AD's have.

I think the simple solution is add some anti MR picks that are viable picks within a mage's build or add the same sort of Off tank options for AP's .

Of course someone will talk about the current Magic pen options but the fact is is that in a majority of mage builds those items aren't viable picks with the only viable items typically being Sorc boots and Void staff which is just never enough, unless of course the item synergizes with a champions kit making it viable like brand with Liandry's.

I personally think Adding more off tank items to AP champions would be absurd so what i think should be added is more items with combo's of Pen, AP, CDR which are the things AP champions need to be viable.
