The Influence and Blue combo

I am just confused how this is equal to earning influence points. I used to earn IP every game that would go toward my champs but now I only get 50 blue every time I win my first game of the day after that nothing. Also, I can receive blue by selling my champ shards which gives me a good chunk but I only get those for leveling up. Just don't see how this is equal as trying to get a 6300 champ now takes forever it seems.
