Question about position ranks

I hit platinum playing only support last season. I'm fairly certain I would deserve iron in any other role. If I wanted to try another position, would it start me in the normal starting elo or would I start in the mid gold elo I started at for support this season (so I'd ruin a bunch of people's games before I got to the rank I deserved)?
