Modular Engine

Hey there Riot and LoL community,

I'm a former player of Starcraft2 (actually I still play it a decent amount ^^; ) and have found a lot of fun with this game with it's similarities in terms of micro management (positioning and skillshots) as well as macro management (cs, objectives, and team strategy). Add that to the enormous amount of unique scenarios this game can offer you you can basically see why I'm hooked.

That said, with a game with as much depth and strategy as it has, I am often left desiring some of the functions I took for granted back in Sc2. Mainly all post game and statistics lookup and such, but really what I miss the most are replay functionality and all that it entails.

For those of you not familiar with Sc2, it has an excellent replay function, and they have even patched it to the point where you can now watch a replay and join in the game at a certain point and retry a scenario differently. I know this would be extremely complicated to acieve and is definitely not needed, but I would love to have at least a replay functionality.

I know the main reason Sc2 is able to retrieve excellent statistical info as well as provide seemless replay functionality has a lot to do with how the game engine is very Modular in design. In other words, when you save and play a reply, it is not ACTUALLY a recording of the game. The replay file is simply straight code, pretty much a series of precise events at different times in the specific order they were played.

When playing a replay the game basically recreate's the game perfectly.

I was wondering how possible this can or can not be for LoL. Would it be possible to convert the game engine to something as modular as the sc2 engine, even if has a very long term goal? I would be really interested to hearing anyone's thoughts especially anyone from Riot ^^
