The possible Kindred devourer link

If Riot periodically uses special game modes to test new items and balance, is it too far fetched to look at devourer as a debug/mass testing item for them to work out Kindred gameplay and visuals? Just a thought. Gives me hope that maybe it, as an item, will be deep six'd permanently now that it has served it's purpose And if this is the case, I really hope trickster's glass foreshadows good to come!!
