Player Categories in league

When playing league, I have noticed that players seem to look up (or down for that matter), to different players depending on what their "status" is in the league ranking. For example, I've just finished a game, I am not a highly ranked player, and during the game, I got harassed whenever I would make a mistake. Most people tend to see low ranked players (bronze or silver for example) as people that they can easily blame for anything negative that would throughout in the game. The same goes for the people that are of high ELO, if someone in (gold for instance) gets beaten in their lane, and the other player is in bronze, he or she thinks that they can harass him because they are expected to play amazingly.
