League Of Legends on Linux

I wish that League would be a available on Linux since Windows messes up sometimes and Linux, in general, is less bloated and faster. Steam has started porting a bunch of games to Linux so it may become the new gaming operating system. I would love it if League could be on Linux without "Wine", which slows down the game, so the people who use Linux are not forced to get Windows or Mac just to play League. Other MOBAS are going to Linux and I think the most popular one should be there to show those other MOBAS who is in charge.

Thanks.

I'd like it too, a little nervous about the direction of Windows.

Would be nice to have a fallback plan.

Yeah. It's time they took a serious look into supporting Linux. I've actually considered dumping League several times over the lack of Linux support as it is the only thing I use that can't be run on Linux natively and I can't effectively run in a virtual machine. And I personally refuse to use WINE.

I probably won't stick around for much longer if Linux support isn't added.

I have been a linux user for many years. Unfortunately, I have to keep a dual boot for League only. I have tried using the gaming on linux version, and it works mostly. However, not well enough for as much league as i play.

I would fully support this, and love to have it. I already, only buy games that i can play on linux (baring some humble/steam sales).

I know this is old but Arch Linux is missing. I'm using Arch and keep windows almost entirely for league. That said, the game should not depend on any distro. As there already is a mac version it should not be too much of a problem to make one for linux. Please JUST DO IT !

Please, make it for linux ...

I have recently started using Linux (Kali to be exact) and I am wanting to make a full switch and get rid of Windows however I have way too much money invested into League to just drop it lol. Rito please give us Linux users some love.

I use Arch, so I'm not sure if I should vote or not. I've used many distros in the past, so I guess I could vote for one of those.I think that it is kind of funny that both Heroes of Newerth and DOTA2 have clients for Linux but League does not.

As for myself, I run windows inside of a KVM virtual machine with GPU pass-through via VFIO. It's a bit of work to setup, and I'm pretty sure everything is still considered beta but I get 60 FPS on my 60hz Monitor with an R9 270X. I'm not sure how much better than I get, but it doesn't really matter. Maybe I will try on my boss's 120hz monitor soon at report back if people are interested. So, yeah you can run it in a virtual machine well, its a lot of work to get fine tuned and just running in the first place. It would be so much easier if Riot would just give us a native client. i would really like for league to not be biased based on OS DOTA2 works perfectly on linux and I am starting to get tiered of all the mods i have to do to keep up with league of legends updates that keep braking the work around for linux..... the longer this takes the more attractive DOTA2 looks to me they have already made the switch to a better system idk why league of legends wont do what it takes to stay competitivesummoner 3

I think keeping the League Client (which has been decrepit and in need of replacement since Day 1) usable on every single minor fork would quickly turn into a Sisyphean undertaking.

Where Kali at tho? :(

I have 2 HDDs, windows on one Kali on the other. But it's really not that big of a deal for me as my PC can run League fine. I can't say I'm concerned about Riot adding linux support.

I voted that I use Ubuntu but in reality I use several Linux distributions including vanilla Debian and Fedora.

With Steam making its huge (and fantastic) push into the Linux space, I have no other need for Windows. No Linux support for League means having to keep one of my drives running Windows. I literally have to maintain an entire OS to play 1 game. This is especially concerning with the Windows 10 debacle. If / when they force the move to Windows 10, I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue to play.

I know that a Linux client will likely never happen, but I felt like I should voice my support for it all the same.

(Also - I couldn't care less what flavor they go with. I'll use any Linux distro that Riot supports)

Considering they are already supporting Mac, making the game portable on all platforms is completely feasible. Once the code (if it's not already like that) can support win/mac/lin, maintaining it is not that hard. Many game developers do it, and more are doing it every day. Furthermore, companies like Feral interactive can be employed to help.

Despite there not being a native Linux client, lots of people play it on Linux anyway ( https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=31794 ) and have done for several years now.

I want to see a native Linux client so that I can get the performance I paid for (in my hardware). And so I can stop worrying about Windows.
