Cause she's Irelia. Just like how we've accepted (us in low elo,) that Katarina is Katarina.

Irelia needs nerfed, end of story. If you build Merc Treads on her, CC is pretty much useless against her. She basically becomes Olaf with the ult always on.

It doesnt... gives her lots of lifesteal and damage. Usually when irelia builds bottk it means shes got a large lead over her lane.

Each blade heals Irelia for 25% of the damage it deals to enemy champions, and 10% of the damage it deals to enemy minions and monsters

Then you have which can proc, if she times her R correctly, to a maximum of 4 procs in a matter of 8 seconds potentially.

procs her Q. Then you have its active and its life steal. Now if your Irelia went this build / / and lastly / or whatever the item might be, she could have around 3k plus hp, 200~+ def 150~+ mr. Her kit makes her even more tanky because of the self heal paired up with spirit visage. It is hard to kill due to her passive especially paired up with Merc threads. How to beat her, i can't tell you. You just have to play against her many times to know what to do against her. Try watching pro matches where Irelia is being played.

Another thing you can do is this and CC. Your ADC or who ever is being target like APC will have escapes of their own or a way to protect them selves like and their champ kits. then you have Red buff. Another key item for an ADC which is pretty rare for them to buils is . the hp counters her flat true damage and the slowing effect helps.

You just have to watch the pros deal with her. You can learn more about it.

Lastly, a Irelia with just those 2 items means that she is fed. Her hp pool is around 1.5k+ So the flat heal will be visible from her items and her kit. By then, saying that she is tanky really means nothing because she is extremely fed. it can be said to with just having and or but they are both EXTREMELY different because for Darius to heal, he needs to Q while Irelia has her whole kit to the job and it is far easier. IF she does have those 2 items and she rushes it and has both of them 25 minutes in, then that means she will get chunked HARD from the APC and ADC. If she is fed and have LCS status farm and have those 2 items 15 minutes in, then she will rampage throughout the whole match as long as she is playing smart. The ADC nowadays have self peel like and and you can say that to jinx but it is not too reliable . That is why Irelia will mainly build tanky and most of the time, full tank after Tri force.

TL;DR Read her Kit and you will see why she CAN be tanky with those 2 items. It all depends on if she id fed or not. If she is fed, then GL killing her. If she rushes her items, youll see how useless she can be (IF SHE IS NOT FED!!). She has no raw stats that make her tanky but she only have self healing from her kit. She still is item dependent. Many factors are played here as well but this is just small information on face values to Irelia. You gotta see if she is getting kills and being fed, having good farm and making smart plays. Is your team building ? Any ? ? Too many information not present to give a full analysis to this post.

Volibear, seriusly when i see an irelia i play voli, she can't do nothing. Nasus, hard at early game, but when you become tanky and farm your Q, it's easy. Olaf, When you ult she can't stun you and you can destroy her early. Darius, new Darius just abuse her so hard. Malphite, buy armor and she can't kill you just like this. Tryndramere, she can't kill you either if you have your ult, well no one can :) Yorick, Well he counter almost everyone. Mundo, No one can kill him. Renekton, Has the advantage early anyway if he build damange irelia fuck him up. Phanteon, same as Renek.
